A Recent Change Could Mean Price INCREASES on Florida Gas

As gas prices fall nationwide, one state won’t be feeling the relief.

Rising gas prices might affect your next Disney World trip

Florida residents can expect to see price increases at the pump this week thanks to a tax suspension.

On October 1st of this year, gasoline prices dropped roughly 25 cents per gallon due to a tax holiday scheduled to last until November 1st. It’s now the end of the month and the suspension has not been extended, so we are anticipating a big spike in prices this week.

We might see less traffic on the roads as people try to save gas (and money!)

ClickOrlando detailed how the holiday gave a discount to drivers across the state throughout the month of October, with AAA estimating it saved drivers 25 cents per gallon. According to AAA, today’s average cost for a gallon of gasoline in Florida is $3.29, well below the national average of $3.76. Unfortunately, it looks like those low prices won’t last long.

Speedway Gas Station Outside of Magic Kingdom

We’ll be watching to see how Florida’s gas prices are impacted by the end of this tax holiday.

If you are planning a trip to Disney World in the near future and will be driving your own vehicle or renting, make sure to include this price increase in your budget. Even those who won’t be driving, keep in mind you may see price hikes for rideshares to offset the rising cost of gas.

Even rideshare apps might charge more to offset costs

Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more updates on news impacting your Disney vacations, as well as ways to save money!

4 Simple Ways to Make Home Feel a Bit More Like Disney This Holiday Season

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

If you’ve been fortunate enough to visit Disney during the holiday season you know how special it is.

What a magical season!

There are plenty of things that make the holiday season unique at Disney, like the familiar characters in their festive outfits, the delicious seasonal foods, and snoap!

Now, you can enjoy some of these nostalgic experiences from the comfort of your own home, no plane ticket required. That’s right, we’re piecing together a few ways to make home feeling a little more magical for the holidays!

Mickey Mouse Holiday Figure by Jim Shore

One of the best parts of visiting the Disney parks around the holidays is getting to see all of the special outfits the characters wear. You’ll only see them in this attire at this time of year which makes it kind of a rare sight! From fuzzy collars to Santa hats, we enjoy seeing how each character’s style is transformed.

Mickey Mouse Holiday Figure by Jim Shore ©Disney

You can decorate your house with all sorts of holiday decor, so why not include some classic Disney characters all dolled up for the winter? This Mickey Mouse Holiday Figure by Jim Shore has Mickey heading off to a party with some beautiful presents. He’s looking especially cozy in his scarf and hat! These figures by Jim Shore are created in a handcrafted style and feature folk art patterns. You can find this and other figures, like this matching Minnie Mouse, on shopDisney for $49.99 each.

Click here to buy the Mickey Mouse Holiday Figure by Jim Shore!

A Merry Christmas Cookbook

Join characters like Simba, Elsa, and more as they show you and your kids how to create delicious Disney-inspired dishes for the holidays! This book is perfect for kids and lets you spend time with them in the kitchen as you teach them valuable cooking skills (and end up with some tasty results!).

A Merry Christmas Cookbook © Amazon

A Merry Christmas Cookbook is a hardcover book filled with easy-to-follow recipes. Each recipe has an accompanying picture for additional reference. Try out a recipe to enjoy at home or work together to create edible gifts for your friends and family! This book can be found on Amazon for $10.99.

Mickey Mouse Holiday Light-Up Singing Snow Wand

The famous “snoap” wands are still available on shopDisney! These wands can be found in the parks, where “snoap” originated. If you aren’t familiar with the term, it’s what many Disney fans call the soap mixture used in the parks to create the fake snow that falls from the sky during special winter events. This wand lets you create your own snoap-storm right at home!

Mickey Mouse Holiday Light-Up Singing Snow Wand ©Disney

Besides giving you the power to control the weather, the Mickey Mouse Holiday Light-Up Singing Snow Wand also features a fun light display and can sing! When you change the wand over to music mode, pressing the button allows Mickey to sing Deck the Halls for you (his mouth even moves!). These wands have been super popular so if you have been wanting one be sure to grab one for $30 from shopDisney before they’re gone.

PHOTOS: The AMAZING Gingerbread Carousel Has Arrived in Disney World!

Deck the halls, put on the holiday album from *NYSNC, and get ready to celebrate — the holidays are basically here!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

We’ve shared a look at some of the Disney holiday items you can get on Amazon, a holiday special coming to Disney+, and the holiday decorations that are already up in Disney World. But there’s an extra special holiday display that is up right now and it’s something you will NOT want to miss!

Giant Christmas trees in the parks, holiday merchandise, and holiday ride overlays — that’s what the season is made of in Disney World, right? While those are certainly some exciting parts of the holiday season, to really celebrate the merriest time of the year, you’ll also want to visit Disney World’s hotels!

At select hotels, you’ll find some INCREDIBLE gingerbread displays. While the display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is one that many are familiar with, the display over at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is one you absolutely won’t want to skip.

Get ready!

Specifically, within the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, you’ll typically find an absolutely astonishing gingerbread carousel!

It’s everything you want it to be — ginormous, incredibly detailed, and themed (of course) to some iconic Disney characters.

There it is!

Last year the carousel was themed to The Little Mermaid, and in 2019 it was themed to Peter Pan and in 2014 we saw the horses themed to some of the Fab 5. But this year a bunch of the Disney Princesses have taken center stage! You can see the horses themed to Snow White…

Snow White

…who has some incredible detailing from the portrait on the side…

Wow!

…to her name…

Snow White

…to the Magic Mirror and apple on top.

How cool!

There is also Princess Tiana…

Tiana

…who has some delicious looking Mickey beignets on top…

YUM!

…and some awesome detailing.

So pretty!

Check out the Queen Elsa-themed horse.

Perfect for the holiday season!

This horse has Elsa’s Ice Palace on top.

Incredible!

We can’t get over how decorated these are!

Too pretty to eat!

Next, we have Princess Jasmine…

Gorgeous!

She has the Genie’s magic lamp on top…

So fun!

…and the palace on the side of the horse.

Incredible!

Finally, there is a Belle horse!

Belle!

On this horse you can see the rose on the side…

The enchanted rose!

…and the mirror and some books on top!

Which books are these?

Also part of this display is Santa’s Nice List! All of the names helped create this incredible gingerbread display, which took over 600 hours of work — it’s been under construction since July!

AMAZING work everyone!

While you’re over here at Beach Club, you might also notice some other holiday decor that’s sprung up in the lobby.

More decorations

Also, if you visit the gingerbread carousel, be sure to look for any potential samples that might be handed out. And remember, the carousel DOES actually spin!

You’ll also want to search nearby for the tasty treats that are typically offered for the holiday season over at The Market at Ale & CompassBeach Club Marketplace, and the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club! In the past, we’ve seen crinkle cookies, fudge, gingerbread cookies (of course), and more available here.

We can’t wait to see what this year brings! Want more holiday info? Check out all of our posts below!

UPDATE on Plastic Bag Disappearances in Disney World

Disney World makes changes all the time, but some things are more noticeable than others.

Disney merchandise in Creations

We see price increases occasionally, that aren’t noticeable unless you REALLY pay attention, and we also see things like merchandise limits come into play. There are also bigger things that change, like restaurants reopening or character meet and greets returning. And recently, we’ve noticed a change that could impact your shopping soon in Disney World.

Most of the small plastic bags in Disney World have disappeared. We talked to a Cast Member in The Emporium who said that the small plastic bags were pulled from behind the counter and are no longer an option when buying merchandise.

Reusable bags

In addition, Disney has discounted the price of some of the reusable bags by $1 in the parks. The small bag is now $1, the medium is now $1.50, and the large remains at $3.

New pricing

We noticed this trend in Magic Kingdom, but it continued in the other parks. Animal Kingdom also was missing small plastic bags and had discounted the reusable bags.

Same thing over here

In EPCOT, we saw that Creations Shop was using the last of their small plastic bags for mobile orders.

They’ll be gone soon

One place that DID still have small plastic bags was Curiouser Clothiers in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. So, it seems like the method for getting rid of these bags is different across the resort. Some spots returned their bags, and some places are waiting until they run out of them.

Still over here!

This could be an effort by Disney to reduce single-use plastic waste throughout the resort and encouraging people to buy reusable bags instead.

Reusable bags

We’ve seen other things like this happen, like plastic straws no longer being available in most spots.

Paper Straws at Yorkshire County Fish Chop

We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the plastic bags in Disney World and let you know what’s going on.

For more on what’s going on around Disney World, check out the BEST and WORST things we ate in Disney World in October, all the rides and hotels that will be closed in Disney World in November, and 2023 dates you should know if you’re a Disney World fan.

Hey there, hi there, ho there! We headed down to the Disneyland Resort to test out the new features of the MagicBand+ that launched for everyone today, and we stayed through for some nighttime entertainment. So join us for this most recent photo report from both parks.
