REVIEW: New Confetti Cake Shake, Banana Split Mickey Mouse Shake, and Cucumber Basil Lemonade from Schmoozies at Disney California Adventure

Two new specialty shakes and a cucumber basil lemonade have debuted at Schmoozies! in Disney California Adventure.

The new shakes are the confetti cake shake and banana split Mickey Mouse shake.

Banana Split Mickey Mouse Shake – $9.49

Strawberry-Banana Shake with Whipped Topping Chocolate Sauce, Peanuts, and Crème-filled Chocolate Cookies, Topped with a Cherry

This strawberry and banana shake went heavy on the banana.

It was topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, nuts, and a cherry — just like a banana split.

The cookies make an adorable Mickey head on top of the cup. Overall, the shake was creamy, smooth, and delicious!

Confetti Cake Shake – $12.99

With Whipped Topping, Topped With a Slice of Cake

This shake tastes just like creamy cake batter! It’s topped with a fluffy slice of vanilla cake and whipped cream.

The cake slice is quite large, it sticks out of the cup and goes down to about the middle. This shake was sweet, but not tooth-achingly so.

Cucumber Basil Lemonade – $5.99

With Minute Maid Lemonade

This selection was disappointing. The description makes it sound refreshing and thirst-quenching. However, the first sip tastes very artificial.

It’s difficult to tell if it’s cucumber or basil. The drink gets better after the first sip, but not by much. We had to drink lots of water after this.

Which one would you try? Let us know in the comments.

The Best Disney World Hotels for Large Groups

Are you planning a trip to Disney World with a BIG group? You might be wondering how to find a hotel that can accommodate everyone in your party without sacrificing space — or your budget.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Yes, it IS possible to find a hotel on Disney World property that can work for big groups of people! There are options ranging from the lower end of the price spectrum all the way up to a HUGE splurge, so you might want to take a look at your budget and check out our list!

Value Resorts

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is a value resort, which means it typically has some of the lower costs of hotels in Disney World, and the family suites are a really great option if you’re on a strict budget but still want Disney perks, especially if you’re planning on driving to and from the parks. The family suites can accommodate up to six adults, and they include one queen bed and two queen-size murphy beds.

All-Star Music Family Suite Kitchen

In addition to two bathrooms, the All-Star Music family suites also have a kitchenette so you can cut down on eating costs! These suites are typically in the $300 to $600 per night range. Also, keep in mind that you can also book regular rooms at any value resort and request connecting rooms, although Disney can’t always guarantee your request.

Check out the reopened All-Star Music Resort here!

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is another value resort that also has a variety of family suites available! The buildings themed to CarsFinding Nemo, and The Lion King have suites that can accommodate up to six adults, with rooms including one queen bed, one double-size murphy bed, and one double-size sleeper sofa, as well as two bathrooms and a kitchenette.

Art of Animation ‘Cars’ Family Suites

Art of Animation has the benefit of being located on the Disney Skyliner line, but it can also be on the the pricier side of Disney’s value resorts, with the family suites typically ranging from $500 to $800 per night — sometimes more during peak visit times. At those prices, you might want to consider upgrading to another hotel!

Moderate Resorts

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort cabins are a popular spot for large groups, with the option for groups to rent side-by-side cabins if they need extra room. Each cabin can sleep up to six adults, and they come with one queen bed, one double-size sleeper sofa, and one bunk bed. You will also find a kitchen (including a dishwasher and two burners!) and a full refrigerator.

If the cabins aren’t your thing, you can also consider the RV or camping options at Fort Wilderness, and in either case it’s a great area for your group to to explore. At the end of the night, everyone can sit around a fire pit and relax after a long day in Disney World! Prices can range from $300 to $700 per night (or more), so it’s not a huge difference from Art of Animation, but it does offer a bit more privacy.

Read more about Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort restaurants here!

Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort

If your group is more in the medium-size category with five or fewer people, Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort can be a great option! In select rooms, you can opt for a child-size pull-down bed in addition to two queen beds.

Port Orleans — Riverside

Better yet, the Port Orleans Resorts also provide boat transportation to Disney Springs. Why is this important? Sometimes in a group you need to consider everyone’s interests and needs — and not everyone wants to do the same thing all the time. Choosing a resort with alternative transportation options is a great way to keep everyone happy!

Deluxe Resorts

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Disney’s Riviera Resort boasts some of the biggest rooms on Disney World property, but it’s definitely a splurge. A 3-Bedroom Grand Villa sleeps up to 12 adults, with one king bed, four queen beds, and one queen-size sleeper sofa, including a full kitchen, a formal dining area, and three full bathrooms. 2-Bedroom Villas that sleep up to nine adults are also an option!

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Riviera Resort is located on the Skyliner line, so you have multiple transportation options too. What’s the catch? The 3-Bedroom Grand Villas can run you anywhere from over $2,000 to $4,000 per NIGHT. Now that’s a splurge!

5 things you need to know about Disney’s Riviera Resort — Click here!

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Disney’s Old Key West Resort has both single rooms and multi-bedroom villas, with the villas often being a better value than the regular rooms. These suites have lots of space, great amenities, and are often reasonably priced, especially if you rent Disney Vacation Club points! Choose from 1-Bedroom (up to five adults), 2-Bedroom (up to nine adults), or 3-Bedroom Villas (up to twelve adults).

Old Key West Resort

If you remember the prices at Disney’s Riviera Resort, the 3-Bedroom Grand Villas at Old Key West typically range from $1,800 to $2,900 per night, which is much lower than Riviera Resort! Also, boat transportation to Disney Springs is available, which is is a good option if someone in your group prefers to skip the parks for some shopping and dining at Disney Springs.

Check out a popular form of transportation at Disney’s Old Key West Resort!

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are a really unique and fun way to host a big group in Disney World! These villas are located in wooded areas, with room for up to 9 adults, including two queen beds, one queen-size sleeper sofa, one bunk bed, and one twin-size sleeper chair.

©Disney || Treehouse Villa

The Treehouse Villas have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full kitchen, and they’re even elevated off the ground for a true treehouse feel. These villas typically range from $1,000 to $2,000 per night, and they make for an unforgettable Disney World visit!

8 of the most ridiculously awesome Disney World hotel rooms!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

And the biggest splurge of them all might be the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The Bungalows sleep up to eight adults, with one king bed, one queen bed, one queen-size pull-down bed, and two single pull-down beds, and they come with a private deck complete with a plunge pool and views of Magic Kingdom.

Bora Bora Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Depending on the time of year, the Bungalows can range in price from $3,000 to almost $6,000, so this isn’t exactly an easy buy for many of us. Note that during Magic Kingdom fireworks shows, the speakers in the Bungalows pipe in the music along with the show, and you have a great view!

Disney World is currently in the middle of their Halfway to Halloween celebration and while it may seem small, it’s an event that you DON’T want to miss!

Cinderella Pumpkins at Magic Kingdom in 2021

Not only did we get BIG announcements about what we can expect for the Halloween season in 2022 (like the return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World and Oogie Boogie Bash in Disneyland), but there are also a ton of limited-time treats popping up to celebrate. And, over in Disney Springs, Gideon’s Bakehouse isn’t the only spot getting in on the spooky season — but, you’ll have to head there ASAP!

Right now, you can get a new Witches Brew Cocktail at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar! It features Knob Creek, Violet Monin, and lemonade with a black sugar rim.

©Disney

It won’t be around for long though — The Witches Brew is only available through May 1st! It joins other offerings that are only around for this weekend like the Hocus Pocus “Amuck” Cakes at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Frankenstein Cake Slices at Gideon’s Bakehouse, and Mickey Mummy Popcorn Bucket at various popcorn carts throughout the parks.

NEWS: Storytelling at Royal Theatre Is BACK In Disneyland!

One year ago Disneyland Resort began its phased reopening and a lot has changed in the parks since!

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Masks are no longer required to be worn by fully vaccinated guests in most locations, most restaurants have reopened, parades and nighttime shows have returned, and even character meet & greets are “normal.” And, as of yesterday, another entertainment offering is BACK — but you need to know the secret to find out when you can see it!

Live theatrical performances have officially returned to Disneyland’s Royal Theatre in Fantasy Faire as of April 29th! Previously, this space was used as a modified meet and greet location for various Disney characters.

Rapunzel!

The shows feature the duo Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones, who provide “witty and fast-paced” versions of Disney Princess tales like Beauty and the Beast and Tangled!

Showtimes won’t appear on the Disneyland app or printed show schedules for now though because it is in a soft reopening phase. Instead, you can find the showtimes listed on a sign just outside the theater.

Showtimes

We’ll keep an eye out for when official showtimes are published by Disneyland, and, in the meantime, check back here for the latest Disney news and updates!
