A Major Disney Executive Is Participating in a Live Q&A Next Month

You can learn a lot by listening to the people in charge! That probably sounds like pretty obvious advice, but when we’re talking about Disney World, news comes from all sorts of places. Although we like to consider ourselves Disney experts, we still have TONS of burning questions about the future of The Walt Disney Company. What’s coming soon? Will TRON ever be complete? What’s the deal with EPCOT right now? We NEED to know!

There’s always something new happening in Disney World!

If you’re like us, you might want to hear about an upcoming Disney Q&A. You never know what might be revealed!

Disney announced that Christine McCarthy, the Senior Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company, will participate in aQ&A session at an upcoming Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. The event will take place on Monday, March 7 at 5:25PM ET.

We wonder what she might discuss!

It remains to be seen how much McCarthy will be allowed to reveal, but we’re hoping to learn some new information! The Q&A session will be live-streamed over a webcast on The Walt Disney Company website. If listening, Disney asks listeners to tune in 5 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

The Walt Disney Company has boasted some impressive numbers lately!

During the Q1 Earnings Call earlier this year, Disney shared some information on the total number of  Disney+ subscribers, park capacity, and more.

CEO Bob Chapek recently commented on the park capacity

Since then, we’ve seen some changes to the Disney Genie+ system and updates to the health and safety guidelines, so we’ll be interested to see what McCarthy will discuss.

We’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news and park updates, so be sure to stay tuned for more information!

Imagineer Zach Riddley Shares First Official Look at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Load Station

Get a first look at the loading dock for the upcoming attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, at EPCOT.

Walt Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, shared a photo on Instagram saying, “Recently, Imagineering revealed a first-look at the incredible load station of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in @DisneyD23 magazine. It’s a stunning space – where EPCOT guests will get a chance to step aboard a Nova Corps ship and load into their Starjumper vehicles to take off with the Guardians of the Galaxy on a race through time and space! Our ride team has been hard at work testing this innovative ride system which we call an Omnicoaster. I have had the chance to experience myself, and I can tell you – this is truly unlike anything we’ve ever done! As we get closer to our Summer 2022 opening I’ll be sharing more about the design and the wonderful details that make this experience part of our EPCOT story!”

A Popular Disneyland Ride Just CLOSED for Refurbishment

Refurbishment is a regular part of life in the Disney Parks. Every so often, Disney attractions close for routine maintenance needs, and Imagineers give our favorite rides a little TLC. Everyone needs a break once in a while — even Disney attractions!

Sleeping Beauty Castle

There are several fan-favorite Disneyland rides on the refurbishment calendar for 2022, and today one of these iconic rides is closed. Find out when you can ride it again here!

As of today, February 28th, the Matterhorn Bobsleds are closed for a short refurbishment. The Disneyland refurbishment calendar currently states that the Matterhorn is scheduled to reopen on March 5th.

Matterhorn

The Matterhorn Bobsleds opened in Disneyland in 1959, and it was actually the first tubular steel roller coaster in the world! The ride has been through a number of refurbishments and changes since then, and it’s known for its speedy twists and turns. It might even whip you around so much you walk off the attraction with a sore back!

Cast Members are informing guests of the temporary closure

If you’re hoping to ride the Matterhorn during your trip, mark your calendar for March 5th. Keep in mind that this date is subject to change, but we’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes on the Disney calendar.

The bobsleds are taking a little break

It’s generally a good idea to check the refurbishment calendar before visiting a Disney Park. Keep reading DFB for more Disney news!

Tokyo Disney Resort Demolition Subcontractor Accused of $1.1 Million Tax Fraud

A company which took on construction projects at Tokyo Disney Resort between 2018 and 2020 has been indicted by the Tokyo Regional Tax Bureau on the grounds of hiding income on projects worked on at the Tokyo Disney Resort, as well as dodging over $1 million in taxes.

The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Inspection Division has filed a complaint with the Chiba District Public Prosecutors Office, claiming that K.G., a demolition company based in Chiba City near Tokyo Disney Resort, and its President Hitoshi Kasada, hid approximately ¥378 million ($3.27 million) in income over a two-year period ending in July 2020, and evaded a total of ¥128 million ($1.1 million) in corporate tax and consumption tax. K.G. performed jobs at Tokyo Disney Resort between July 2018 and July 2020, most notably the four month-long refurbishment of Splash Mountain from May to September 2019, according to the Asahi Shimbun.

The company’s annual income jumped from ¥100 million ($865,345) to ¥600 million ($5.2 million) per year due to these lucrative deals with The Oriental Land Company. The funds obtained from the tax evasion were kept in cash in a safe deposit box at a bank, and were used to fund the operation of the company as well as to purchase a condo.

Escape the Post-Fireworks Crowds in Magic Kingdom With Our Secret Snack HACK

One of the most frightening moments in Disney World occurs right after the Magic Kingdom fireworks end, and you find yourself carried along in a veritable sea of humans all trying to exit the park at the same time. But what if we told you we could make that experience much less terrifying?

Crowds

We just discovered an excellent Magic Kingdom hack that can make your end-of-the-night experience a delightful time instead of a stressful nightmare. And here’s a bonus — it involves eating a tasty snack!

One of our top Disney World dining tips is to learn to use Mobile Order, which is how you can avoid waiting in line for food at some counter service locations in the parks and at Disney hotels. You can use your phone to order food and choose a return time, and when that time arrives, you’ll head straight up to the counter to pick it up.

We often recommend making these orders right when you get to the park so that you’re not stuck with a hangry group at lunchtime while you’re frantically trying to find a close pick-up time.

Mobile Order sign in EPCOT

Usually, Mobile Order is available only during park hours (or during the restaurant’s specific hours, if that spot isn’t open all day), but we just saw that some Magic Kingdom restaurants have Mobile Order available past the park’s closing time!

Casey’s Corner

A few spots on Main Street, U.S.A., have the option to pick up food using Mobile Order past 9PM today (Magic Kingdom’s closing time). The Main Street Confectionery and Casey’s Corner both have windows that extend past closing time. You can grab treats from the Confectionery all the way up until 10PM

…and Casey’s Corner has Mobile Order windows available until 9:30PM.

In addition, the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (which does not have Mobile Order right now) is open until 9:30PM.

So if you find yourself caught in the huge crowds of people exiting Magic Kingdom right at the end of the fireworks show, you might be better off stepping out of the crowds and ordering some popcorn, a hot dog, or candy from a nearby restaurant.

Grab a treat instead!

Or, better yet, order the food earlier in the day and set the pickup time for later on at night so that you’re all set to just head into the restaurant once the last firework goes off above Cinderella Castle. That way you won’t run out of time to make the order before the windows fill up.

With this new hack, you can be merrily snacking on a Confectionery caramel apple or Casey’s corn dog nuggets (don’t forget the plastic cheese!) while you take a break in the Hub and allow the crowds to disperse behind you.

Corn dog nuggets and plastic cheese

Once the initial wave of people has exited the park, you’ll likely have a much less stressful trip home.

Let the crowds disperse first!

We checked the Mobile Order times for the other three Disney World parks, but right now Magic Kingdom is the only park with Mobile Order windows available after park closing time. We’ll keep an eye out for any changes there. Keep following DFB for more tips as you plan your upcoming Disney trip!
