Welcome Back, Disneyland From Your Friends at Walt Disney World

What a ride it’s been. In July 2020, Walt Disney World reopened after the COVID-19 shutdown, while Disneyland Resort remained shuttered. It’s been a strange feeling with Walt Disney World carrying the torch while the predecessor, the place that started it all, remained closed.

Walt Disney World is magical, there’s no denying. There’s always so much to do. But if you’re one of the lucky Disney fans that’s been to both Walt Disney World as well as Disneyland Resort, your perspective of it all has probably changed.

I went to Disneyland for the first time in 2005, during its incredible 50th Anniversary celebration. Visiting for the first time during such a momentous occasion spoiled me. I returned again in early 2006, and then later in the year had the opportunity to work there for a few weeks, training the Disney Vacation Club team. As an Orlando native, living my entire life in Central Florida, Disneyland fascinated me. It also absolutely ruined Magic Kingdom for me.

Today is the day we get to welcome back Disneyland. I’ve had the pleasure of writing about Walt Disney World during this strange period, missing the charm of Disneyland the whole time. I wanted to find a way to welcome back the Happiest Place of Earth. I brainstormed with our field team and what follows is our team’s special way of welcoming back the original, the most huggable of all the Disney theme parks.

With Disney nuiMOs in hand, Chrissy headed to the parks in recent days to share how much our little nuiMOs have missed the place that started it all. In the end, with Chrissy’s creative prowess and my love of corny puns, we’ve created some super cheesy welcome back messages for the Happiest Place on Earth.

  • A Mad Tea Party Is Better with You at the Table, Disneyland
  • Life Is Sweet at Magic Kingdom, and It’s Even Sweeter Now that Disneyland Is Back
  • The Greatest Treasure Is You, Disneyland
  • We Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig in Our Mine the Whole Day Through, but the Greatest Gem Is You, Disneyland

We Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig Dig in Our Mine the Whole Day Through, but the Greatest Gem Is You, Disneyland

And beyond Magic Kingdom, Disneyland’s sister park, we found other ways of expressing our joy about Disneyland’s reopening.

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Sure Is a Wild Time, but We’ve Still Missed You, Disneyland
  • We’re Ready to Live with The Land–Disneyland That Is
  • We Can’t Imagine Waiting Any Longer for You, Disneyland
  • It’s Not Easy Being Green, and It’s Not Been Easy Waiting for You, Disneyland
  • You’ve Got a Friend In Us, Disneyland

It’s Not Easy Being Green, and It’s Not Been Easy Waiting for You, Disneyland – Mickey nuiMO and Kermit Hanging Out at Muppet Vision 3-D
You’ve Got a Friend In Us, Disneyland

And lastly, we wanted to find a way to express the wholeness we now feel with Disneyland reopened. And I think Chrissy captured it perfectly with these two miniature paintings. The pink heart can represent Sleeping Beauty Castle and the blue heart can represent Cinderella Castle. Pretty perfect, right?

For over a year the world has been without the theme park that started it all. Disneyland, it is so good to have you back. May you continue to stand as the example of dreams come true.

If you were headed into Disneyland today, where would you go first? Let us know in the comments.

morocco-relaxation-station-8

A new Relaxation Station has opened in the Morocco Pavilion of EPCOT. This replaces the United Kingdom Pavilion Relaxation Station, which has been converted back to seating for the Yorkshire County Fish Shop. The entrance to the Relaxation Station is near where some minor construction recently took place, removing a suggestive structure from one wall. Guests can visit Relaxation Stations to take off their masks while maintaining physical distancing. There are tables and chairs, as well as social distancing markers, throughout […]

ALERT: There Has Been a BIG Update to When the Nutella Waffle Is Being Served in Disney World

We’ve gotta talk about one of our favorite Disney snacks.

Cinderella Castle

The Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is a Disney snack icon, and you’ll find us happily munchin’ on it whenever we can. In fact, we love it SO MUCH that we made it even better with our very own hack! But if you’re hoping to grab one of these on your next trip to Magic Kingdom, we’ve got some sad news for ya.

In February, we shared that this waffle was up for grabs ALL DAY again! Before that change, you could only eat it for breakfast before 11AM. And boy did we love getting to enjoy it anytime we wanted.

Fresh Fruit Nutella Waffle Sandwich

But when Mobile Order arrived at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments last week, something very sad happened. The Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich went back to being a breakfast-only item! You can only order it before 11AM…again.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

Trust us, friends. We’re sad, too. You can bet we’ll be trekkin’ over to Magic Kingdom in the mornings for this ooey gooey goodness! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney updates.

Review: A Disney World Cake Looks Just Like an Avocado, and We Can’t Stop Staring

It’s the last day of April, which means May the Fourth is just around the corner!

Want to Pilot the Millennium Falcon?

That’s Star Wars Day in case you didn’t know — and there are so many ways to celebrate it in Disney World! Not only can you order some adorable tees or collectibles before your trip, but Disney is offering several galactic treats surrounding the holiday. Today, we got to try a returning treat inspired by Baby Yoda himself!

When The Child Mousse arrived at Amorette’s Patisserie in November, we were in love. Now, the Baby Yoda-themed cake is BACK (with a new name!), and we’re trying it out again to see if it still holds up.

The Grogu Mousse has the same ingredients as The Child Mousse from last year. That’s vanilla chiffon cake, white chocolate mousse, cookies and cream mousse, and cookie crumbs!

Grogu Mousse

Like The Child Mousse, this treat was light and pillowy, with a jiggly JELLO-like texture.

He’s a cutie!

The mix of flavors was subtle and not overly sweet. Most people would be fans of the basic combo of vanilla, white chocolate, and cookies and cream!

As for the mousse? It was smooth and creamy and melted right in our mouths. Yum!

Just look how jiggly!

If you cut this little guy open, you’ll see that combo of 2 mousses and cookie crumbs layered inside the cake itself. And we’ve gotta say, it looks JUST like an avocado. Anyone else?! (No, seriously. We can’t unsee it now.).

Um…is that an avocado?!

But instead, you’ve got a classic, not-too-sweet dessert that most people would love. If you’re lookin’ for an intensely chocolately or sweet dessert, this isn’t for you! But if you’re on the hunt for something fun, kid-friendly, and photo-worthy, we recommend grabbing this mini cake. It’ll be all yours for $9!

YUM!

The Child Mousse sold out SUPER fast last year, and we’re expecting this treat to do the same! So hurry over to Amorette’s Patisserie if you want to give it a try. We’ll be checking out all of the May the 4th treats around Disney World, so stay tuned for more food reviews!
