PHOTOS: Disneyland is Open, But a Classic Ride is Still Closed

Well, friends, we made it: Disneyland is finally OPEN!

There it is!

As excited as we are to be back in the parks, unfortunately, not every ride is reopening with Disneyland this weekend.

Like we reported back at the beginning of April, even with the park reopen, Jungle Cruise still remains closed in Disneyland. (But stick with us, because there’s a little more to the story to come…)

Tours Departing Daily (But Not Today…)

This is due, of course, to a historic retheming of the ride that is occurring for the Jungle Cruise rides on both coasts!

Jungle Cruise is Closed

The ride in Disney World‘s Magic Kingdom elected not to close as the ride changes are being put into place even now, and it has been strange to ride and find things missing from day to day! But since the attraction was already closed in Disneyland due to the park closure, the decision was made to keep it closed until the retheming was complete.

“Please visit other Adventureland attractions…”

That said, we have a recent update, ICYMI! Just yesterday, Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared that Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise will reopen this summer! He also explained that the ride will reopen with some necessary changes, including a newly enhanced story revolving around those World Famous Jungle Cruise Skippers!

Jungle Cruise Concept Art ©Disney

As a reminder, the Jungle Cruise is currently off of Disneyland’s refurbishment calendar starting June 29th. Keep in mind, though, that Disney has not confirmed that this is the reopening date. The only thing confirmed at this time is that the changes will debut sometime “this summer.” We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any developments about the Jungle Cruise, and we’ll definitely let you know as soon as you can cruise once again with the Skippers in Disneyland!

While we’re waiting for the full reveal, here’s what we know about the Jungle Cruise re-theme!

What are you most looking forward to in the Jungle Cruise retheme? Let us know in the comments!

All the Rides CLOSED in Disney World for Refurbishment Next Week

Disney World has quite a few construction projects going on right now!

Main Street, U.S.A.

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ll want to know exactly how this work will affect your vacation. So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for May 3rd through 9th.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents has been closed for quite some time while an animatronic for President Joe Biden is installed! This happens every time a new U.S. President is elected.

The Hall of Presidents

The show closed for refurbishment in January, and Disney has not yet announced a reopening date. But we’ll let you know as soon as we hear!

Learn More About the Hall of Presidents’ Refurbishment!

Walt Disney World Railroad

Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over 2 YEARS! Construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking its path through Tomorrowland, so it remains temporarily unavailable.

Walt Disney World Railroad

That TRON construction is likely delayed, which means the Railroad probably won’t open back up for a while. The TRON work will have to clear up quite a bit before the classic train can reopen. We’ll keep ya in the loop if we hear any news!

Check out the Main Street Station’s Makeover!

Main Street Confectionery

The Main Street Confectionery closed in April for a pretty long time — its refurbishment is lasting well into the summer! As of now, the location is no longer on Disney’s refurbishment list starting July 4th. However, that date is subject to change, and the closure could last even longer.

Head over to Main Street Cinema for sweet treats in the meantime!

In the meantime, Main Street Cinema is selling all of the Confectionery’s sweet treats! And elsewhere on Main Street, U.S.A., The Chapeau has closed, too.

Check Out What Main Street Confectionery Will Be Like When it Reopens!

EPCOT Refurbishments

Pin Traders

Over in EPCOT, a store is getting some TLC, too! Pin Traders, which you can find under Spaceship Earth, closed on April 20th for some minor work.

Pin Traders Construction Fences

Disney hasn’t said why Pin Traders is shuttered, but we’ll let you know if we hear! It’s likely pavement work in front of the store. It’s currently scheduled to reopen on May 7th.

Click for More Info on Pin Traders’ Closure!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

At the hotels, some major changes are underway! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is in the middle of a huge transformation: we’ll see changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station.

Polynesian Construction

The guest rooms are also getting a Moana retheme. And they look pretty neat, don’t they?!

©Disney

Those rooms are available for reservations from July 19th forward! The rest of the projects around the hotel should wrap up around then, too.

Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a big refurbishment project has just kicked off! Work is being done to the Main Tower guest rooms — but while those rooms are unavailable for booking, the rest of the resort is relatively unaffected.

More construction!

We say “relatively” because if you’re visiting here, you’ll want to aware that the construction is pretty noisy. However, a Cast Member confirmed that the work is only scheduled to last through September!

Learn More About the Refurb at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Lastly, some construction is taking place at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort! The waterslide and splash zone at Meadow Swimmin‘ Pool are being refurbished through May.

Wilderness Lodge Slide Construction

No worries if you’re staying here! Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will both remain open throughout the closure.

Read More About Meadow Swimmin’ Pool’s Refurb!

That wraps up our refurbishment updates for this week! We’ll be sure to keep you posted with plenty more news — so stay tuned to DFB.

Disney Cruise Line’s Summer “Staycations” Are Now Available to Book

We’re still bustling from all the Disney Cruise Line updates on the brand new ship, the Disney Wish!

Concept Art for the Disney Wish ©Disney

The new ship may not be setting sail until Summer 2022, and we may have a bit longer until other Disney cruises start up again in the US, but there is one group of Disney fans who can hop on a cruise this summer!

The Disney Cruise Line had previously announced that they would be setting sail once again in a completely NEW way this summer throughout the UK on what they’re calling “Staycations.” And, what makes these cruises a “staycation” is that the Disney Magic won’t dock at any ports and will instead spend the days at sea during select 2, 3, or 4-night adventures.

The Disney Magic will be pulling into select UK ports this year!

And, now you can book your cruise on the Disney Cruise Line website or by calling 0800 171 3217. Just keep in mind that you must be a UK resident to set sail on the Disney Magic during these cruises.

Bookings are now available! ©Disney

Throughout the summer, the cruises will depart from London Tilbury, England; Newcastle, England; Liverpool, England; and Southampton, England on select dates, though not all cruise lengths are available for each port. And, now you can see which cruises are still available and where pricing starts for each when you go to book your vacation.

2-Night UK Staycation Sailing from Newcastle pricing and information ©Disney

The cost of the cruise will depend on both the number of nights the cruise sails and which stateroom type you choose. The cheapest options are an Inside cabin and other options include Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge.

Disney Magic Itineraries ©Disney

One change to the booking process is that you won’t be able to select the exact stateroom that you will stay in on the ship. Instead, you’ll select which deck and category you would prefer for your room to be in and then Disney will assign you a stateroom before you embark with those preferences guaranteed. So, you won’t know which end of the ship you’ll be on, but you will know your view, deck, and category.

You will not be able to select your exact room ©Disney

And, once you click add to cart, you’ll fill in all your party details and be booked on your first cruise in over a year!

Get Ready for Some Pool Time!

Disney has also added a Cruise Availability Update to the website in the case that health and safety conditions require that they cancel your cruise prior to setting sail. It states that “you will be contacted with the option to receive a refund without Disney-imposed cancellation fees or a future cruise credit if the reservation has been paid in full,” which is the cancellation policy that Disney has adapted for other canceled cruises this year.

So, are you ready to get back on a Disney Cruise ship? If you’re a UK resident and want to hop aboard any of these select summer staycation cruises, head on over to the Disney Cruise Line website and book your cruise! Select rooms are already selling out, so you’ll want to start planning sooner rather than later. And, as always, stay tuned for more Disney news and updates.

Hollywood Studios is SOLD OUT for the Week of “May the Fourth” in Disney World

WOW, here we are in the month of May! Not only will next week bring with it the first full week of the month of May, but next week also means that May the Fourth is just around the corner! Will you be celebrating in Disney World?

If so, you’ll want to make sure you’ve brushed up on those park hours and Park Pass Reservation availability for the week of May 2nd, 2021. That way, you’ll be able to anticipate which days may be more crowded than others, so you can then plan your vacation accordingly!

Disney World Park Hours the Week of May 2nd

For the week of May 2nd, Magic Kingdom will be open each day from 8AM-9PM.

And don’t forget Park Hopping is still available for those with the Park Hopper option added onto their tickets after 2PM each day. In order to Park Hop, you must be scanned into the first park of the day, for which you have a confirmed Park Pass Reservation. After that, you do not need any additional Park Pass reservations.

Howdy, Woody!

So, if you see a park below that you want to visit but does not have Park Pass availability, you can always try to hop there after 2PM, as long as you have that Park Hopper option and you have scanned into your first park of the day.

Click here to read about how Disney World may be able to increase their park capacity soon!

Expect EXTREME UV Levels in Disney World Next Week

We had a BEAUTIFUL week in Disney World!

Tree of Life

If you’re headed to Disney World soon, then you might be hoping for more of the same when it comes to the weather in Disney World next week. Well, we want to make sure you’re ready for whatever the Florida skies might throw at you. So, we’re here with a weather update!

Weather Forecast

According to The Weather Channel, things are getting HOT, HOT, HOT this week.

Hollywood Studios

Last week was the first that gave us a nice reprieve from the rain. Will we still have sunny days for days this week? Let’s take a look!

May 3rd

Monday, May 3rd will start the week with pretty toasty temperatures — and you better get used to it! That day is going to max out at a 94-degree high and we’ll see 73 degrees at night.

©The Weather Channel

You’ll notice the temperatures this week are pretty stable again, although they are a little warmer this week. Don’t expect to see too many differences from day to day!

May 4th

The next day, May 4th brings us a VERY similar forecast with a high of 96 degrees during the day and keeping that low down at a comfy and warm 75 degrees.

©The Weather Channel

You also might notice that the chance of rain is pretty low. Over the week, there’s a little more moisture in the forecast but nothing like we saw a few weeks ago.

May 5th

On Wednesday, May 5th, we’re going to see temps that are pretty similar to the day before, don’t worry though, it’s going to cool down just a little bit later in the week. Your low is gonna keep hanging out in the mid-70s for a comfy evening.

©The Weather Channel

Note that it looks like we’re going to see some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Make sure you have a rain layer prepped so that you can stay dry.

May 6th

For Thursday, May 6th, we’re seeing a day with a little bit of a drop in the temps in the high-80s and a beautiful evening at 71 degrees.

©The Weather Channel

You’ve got some thunderstorms in the morning here as well. When there are thunderstorms in the forecast, it’s best to be prepared. Sometimes, you might end up getting off without rain — but it’s best to be prepared.

May 7th

The week continues with still-similar temperatures in the day and another little drop into the high 60s in the nighttime on May 7th.

©The Weather Channel

And voila! That rain chance drops too! Get ready for intervals of clouds and sunshine!

May 8th

Saturday, May 8th brings us more warm temps up in the high-80s. Note this week has all EXTREME UV Index days. This is similar to last week so you’ll want to make sure you wear PLENTY of sunscreen.

©The Weather Channel

Here, we’ll see an 87-degree high and a 69-degree low.

May 9th

And we’ll wrap up our week on May 9th with still warm temperatures and a beautiful sunny day.

©The Weather Channel

This week might not be quite as perfect as last week, but it’s just important that you focus on that sun protection!

Overview of the Week

Here is a full overview of the week according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures are projected to hang out in about the same place for the whole week again. We’re looking at a range of 80s to 90s highs and 60s to 70s lows.

©The Weather Channel

Other websites like Click Orlando News 6

©Click Orlando News 6

…and WESH 2 News have similar forecasts throughout the week.

©WESH 2 News

Keep in mind that the weather in Florida is subject to change at ANY moment so keep an eye on that forecast. We recommend that you check regularly as you get closer to your trip and then check every day DURING your trip too.

Click here to see some essentials you need for your park bag!

Tips for Weathering the Weather!

So, what are our best tips for packing when it comes to this week’s forecast?

Protect yourself from the sun and heat!

Alright, there’s SUN and HEAT to deal with this week. Florida is known for hot and humid days in the late spring and the forecast is showing some intense UV levels. It kinda feels like we’re saying “Bye!” to spring and “Hi!” to summer.

Hollywood Studios

Keep in mind that UV levels aren’t just uncomfortable but they can also be harmful. It will be very important to make sure you wear sunglasses or a cap to protect your eyes and to snag sunscreen so that you don’t get any painful burns.

Want more Disney trip essentials? Click here!

Be prepared for anything!

Alright, the other thing is that you shouldn’t feel safe from rain even if it isn’t in the forecast on any given day. You’ll need to bring a poncho or rain jacket for your trip in general with those storms on the forecast — but think twice before you leave it in your hotel room.

It was poncho weather this week!

Rain can crop up at ANY. TIME. in Orlando and it can be SO uncomfy to be soaking wet while you’re waiting for Space Mountain (or any other ride). Better to be safe than sorry by toting along a poncho when you head into the parks!

To see how effective the Disney poncho is, click here!

PHOTOS: The INSANE Detail of this Millennium Falcon Treat Stuns Once Again in Disney World

We’re still a few days away from May the 4th… but some of the specialty treats for what’s known as Star Wars Day (like the Grogu Mousse, for instance) have already made their way to Disney World from a galaxy far, far away!

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop

Among them is the Millennium Falcon Pop at The Ganachery in Disney Springs. This returning treat is a chocolate tribute to the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, and it’s available from now though… well, May the 4th, of course! So, “Punch it, Chewie!” Because we’re diggin’ in!

We were seriously impressed with the detail on the Millennium Falcon Pop when it made its debut for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop

And that holds no less true with this treat’s return… just LOOK at it!!

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop

A silver sheen glistens on the front of the solid chocolate pop.

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop

And the back is sprinkled with space rocks! Okay, those are crispy candied pearls, if you earthlings must… 😉

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop

While the details of this chocolate piece are what makes it so unique, the flavor is straight milk chocolate… and when you’re talking about the rich, handmade chocolate that The Ganachery is known for, there’s nothing to complain about with that!

Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pops

A Millennium Falcon Chocolate Pop will run you 7 Galactic Credits ($7.00), and it’s a super fun treat that we’re so happy has landed once again in Disney World for May the 4th! And… May the FORCE be with you!

PHOTOS: How CROWDED Is Disneyland on Reopening Day?

We made it! We are here at Disneyland’s reopening day, and we’re taking you with us!

We’re HERE!

With park reservations almost completely sold out, we were prepared for quite a big crowd of fellow Disney fans today as we made our way around. We’ve had almost a year to experience the Disney World parks with capacity restrictions, social distancing, and other health and safety measures in place, so we were curious how that would translate to Disneyland. And now, we’re taking a look!

When we arrived at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure, we found that cars were parked one next to the other, instead of with spaces in between like we’ve seen elsewhere.

Mickey and Friends Parking

But even with all the cars, there was no line at security or temperature check. We were through in no time!

Security and Temp Check

We found the crowds on our way from the parking structure to the park, where 2 lines stretched down the entire tram route. However, they moved pretty quickly, and we were through in just 30 minutes.

Line to Disneyland Park

The crowds on Main Street, U.S.A. didn’t feel too heavy, as people meandered into the park.

Entering Disneyland

The area around Sleeping Beauty Castle had some congestion, though! We’re guessin’ everyone wanted to snap a picture again.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

In Fantasyland, crowds were pretty mild…

King Arthur Carrousel

…while Galaxy’s Edge was practically EMPTY. Keep in mind that we passed through shortly after 9AM, so many people hadn’t made their way into this area of the park just yet.

Galaxy’s Edge

Over in New Orleans Square, there was a fair amount of traffic…

New Orleans Square

…with more crowding around the Haunted Mansion. In general, we did notice most pockets of congestion were near ride entrances and exits.

Haunted Mansion

And in Adventureland, there were plenty of people, as the Jungle Cruise queue was being used as an extended line for Indiana Jones Adventure.

Adventureland Crowds

Overall, the park doesn’t feel too crowded, and we can definitely tell people are doing their best to social distance. We’ll keep updating this post throughout the day as we continue to make our way around Disneyland. Stay tuned to DFB for plenty of reopening updates!

We’re LIVE from Disneyland’s Reopening!
