Just a Bunch of Really WEIRD Stuff We’ve Seen In Disney World

It may be called The Most Magical Place On Earth, but Disney World can (on occasion) also be the WEIRDEST.

Walt Disney World

We visit Disney World practically every day and during our park visits, we often come across things that are charming and/or nostalgia-inducing. After all, that’s what Disney World is supposed to provide. However, no matter how good Disney is at controlling an environment, we still encounter the weird and abnormal from time to time.

We’d like to say we never see anything strange when we visit the parks, but that simply isn’t true. In fact, we’ve seen quite a bunch of weird stuff at Disney World that still makes us shiver uncomfortably or giggle. Here are 10 weird things we’ve seen at Disney World that have stuck with us to this day!

Weird food

Disney food can be odd enough between offerings like the Fuzzy Tauntaun at Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Blue Shrimp that was once sold at the now-closed Disney World Star Wars Hotel — Galactic Starcruiser. And, as the Disney Food Blog, this is probably the most common “weird thing” we come across during our daily activities at the parks.

They don’t call it the FUZZY Tauntaun for nothing!

With that said, sometimes in the rarest of circumstances, you can have a snack you didn’t plan for. Let’s just say that if you’re going fast on an outdoor roller coaster-like ride, it might be a good idea to keep your mouth closed…

Witnessing the animal food chain

Remember how we said Disney is incapable of completely controlling the environment? That can extend to the wildlife. The first example of this (yes, we do have more than one) is the unobstructed animal food chain. There have been instances where we’ve seen animals…um…taking smaller creatures home for dinner. It’s not the most pleasant sight, but it is the circle of life.

Drinking Around the World shenanigans

We get it — one of the most exciting prospects about going to EPCOT for adults is the ability to drink around the world. Drinking Around the World can be a ton of fun, but predictably can also lead to some offputting and bad behavior from participants.

EPCOT is more than just Drinking Around the World

We always advise you to drink responsibly and if you plan on Drinking Around the World during your next trip to EPCOT, be sure to check out some of our tips below!

That time a bear broke into Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is home to quite a few famous bears like the Country Bears and Winnie the Pooh, but in 2023 an actual wild bear made its way into the theme park, resulting in closures and panic (mostly on the bear’s end). We covered the strange event in real time and we’re glad to say this odd story had a happy ending.

Palmetto bugs

If only bugs looked like the ones featured in Disney/Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. If you’re like this writer and are terrified of creepy-looking bugs, then you’re probably not a fan of the palmetto bug. Also known as the Florida woods cockroach, this yucky guy can be spotted around Disney World and likes to lurk in cool, damp places. We’ve seen them in the parks and it’s never a happy encounter.

People sleeping in random areas

While it can be odd to see people fully asleep in random places at Disney World, this is one we totally get! A Disney World vacation can take a lot out of you, ESPECIALLY if you’re traveling with small children. We won’t ever judge if we see someone curled up on a bench for a quick nap or asleep on a calm and dark ride like Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. You’ve gotta catch those Zs wherever you can!

Codes U, V, and H

If you’re ever at Disney World and hear a Cast Member mention Code U, Code V, or Code Hyou should probably walk in the complete opposite direction. These are codes given to bodily function disasters and, trust us, you don’t want to be anywhere near them if you can avoid it.

Another unfortunate code is Code A, which you can learn more about below!

A “Code A” is BAD NEWS in Disney World. Here’s What It Means.

People sticking their hands in the water on water rides

Please keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times, people! We’ve seen people reach into the water on water rides over the years and this is a big no-no! Not only is this unsafe (there can be machinery under the surface), but you can also get in serious trouble with Disney. It’s not worth it.

Guests flirting with characters

Disney World characters are meant to engage with kids and create a lighthearted atmosphere with all guests. However, we’ve seen some encounters where adults try to flirt with the characters. It’s inappropriate and ALWAYS cringey. Remember, you’re at a theme park primarily designed for children, let’s keep it rated G as much as possible.

Leave the flirting to the professionals

Getting stuck on a ride or the ride visuals being out of sync

Whether you’re on a ride and it breaks down or the visuals don’t match what you’re hearing one thing is for certain — you will lose the suspension of disbelief. For those that don’t know, the suspension of disbelief is the ability to forget you’re doing something like watching a movie or riding an attraction while allowing yourself to be completely immersed in the story and experience. That all goes out the window if something seems off or you’re stuck in one place now all of a sudden realizing how everything works and wanting to get out of your restraints.
