After a creative overhaul last fall, “Daredevil: Born Again” is back to filming and Charlie Cox has been joined on set by Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson from the original Netflix series.

Cox, Woll, and Henson were spotted together again during filming on New York City streets. The trio has not appeared on screen together since the final season of Netflix’s “Daredevil” in 2018.

Cox, as Daredevil, also faced off against Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter a.k.a. Bullseye.

Though not caught in these set photos, Vincent D’Onofrio will also return as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin and Jon Bernthal will return as Frank Castle a.k.a. Punisher.

Cox portrays Matt Murdock, the titular Daredevil. He made his debut in the role in the 2015 Netflix series, “Daredevil,” which lasted for three seasons. Woll and Henson portrayed Karen Page and Franklin “Foggy” Nelson respectively in the series. D’Onofrio, Bernthal, and Bethel also originated their roles in the series.

After Disney+ launched and Disney began developing their own Marvel Cinematic Universe shows, it was unclear if the Netflix shows still counted as canon. But Cox returned as Daredevil for a brief cameo in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” before a recurring role in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” D’Onofrio, meanwhile, returned as Kingpin in “Hawkeye.” This year, both Cox and D’Onofrio appeared in “Echo.”

“Daredevil: Born Again” was announced in 2022, not long after the Netflix Marvel shows moved to Disney+. Since the beginning, Cox and D’Onofrio have been signed on to the series, but there were no announcements regarding Woll and Nelson.

In November 2022, Woll said on the “Inside of You” podcast that she had not been contacted about returning for “Daredevil: Born Again.”

I can say this: they have not called me yet. So, as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am. Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell.

With last year’s creative overhaul, things have changed, and it seems Woll got that call.

The series was halfway through filming its 18 episodes when production paused amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. In October 2023, Marvel released head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, although they will retain executive producer credits. Marvel also let go the directors of the remaining episodes and brought in Dario Scardapane, writer and executive producer of Netflix’s “The Punisher” series starring Bernthal, as the new showrunner.

Marvel also hired Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to direct the rest of the season. The pair directed two of the six episodes of Marvel’s “Moon Knight” series and were the lead directors of “Loki” season 2.

Some of what was filmed before the production shut down and creative overhaul will remain in the series.

In response to fan concern about the overhaul, D’Onofrio said on X, “We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of.”

He added, “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production, and post.” (via Variety)

Marvel and Disney+ have not yet announced a release date for “Daredevil: Born Again.”
