The Unspoken Rules of Quick Service Dining at Disney World

When you’re super hungry, in a hurry, and can’t be bothered to go through the whole endeavor that is Disney World table-service dining, quick service is the way to go!

Capt. Cook’s

Throughout the hotels and theme parks, Disney World has over 100 quick service locations where you can grab your food and GO, and at some locations, you can even order it ahead of time so that it’s ready as soon as you get there. While these locations are meant to be quick and convenient options, there are some things that YOU as a visitor might be doing that make it much less convenient for others.

So, here are a few unspoken rules of dining at quick service locations just to make sure that we’re all being good Disney World citizens.

Clean up after yourself!

At quick service locations, a general rule of thumb is that each visitor is responsible for cleaning up their own mess.

Seating at Cosmic Rays

Some locations, like ABC Commissary, request that you leave your trash at the table to be cleaned by a Cast Member. However, if it isn’t stated, do everyone a favor and clean up your mess.

Don’t just sit around if you’re done eating!

Nothing is worse than being without a table at a restaurant, and then seeing a group of folks just chattin’ it up when they’ve clearly already eaten.

Once you’re finished, offer your table to someone else!

At a busy restaurant, be courteous of other visitors and give up your table once you’re finished eating. There are plenty of other places to relax around the parks!

Give up extra chairs.

This goes hand in hand with the aforementioned rule. If you’re in a smaller group and have an extra chair, and happen to see a larger group of folks who don’t seem to have enough chairs, offer the extra one to them!

So often, we see folks using extra chairs to store bags and jackets while a group close by is having to share seating. Come on, be a kind human!

Don’t order bottled water!

Okay, this has nothing to do with being a good Disney World citizen. BUT… it could save you money. We see folks paying for bottled water at these restaurants when they could be getting an endless supply of ice water for free!

Did someone say free water?

Yep, just ask the Cast Members for a water cup and you’ll be golden. Oh, and it’s not the sulfurous-tasting water you’ll find at the water fountains, either.

Don’t stand with your entire group at the Mobile Order counter.

If your mobile order isn’t ready to be picked up yet, please wait outside. Don’t crowd the Cast Members and folks grabbing their food by just hanging out around the pick up window if you know your food isn’t ready yet.

It’s crowded enough already

This can actually make it a much faster experience for everyone involved.

Always order plastic cheese.

Seriously. It’s good on everything. It should be considered a crime to not get a side of plastic cheese for all dipping purposes.

REAL plastic cheese

Burger? Plastic cheese. Hot dog? Plastic cheese. Fries? DEFINITELY plastic cheese.
