Magic Kingdom Completely Booked for Christmas Day 2023 as Tickets & Reservations are No Longer Available

Ho-ho-hold on if you’re planning to visit Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World on Christmas Day, as park tickets are sold out for the holiday as of November 30. Theme park reservations are also at capacity, meaning that guests who do not currently have a Magic Kingdom reservation for December 25 may not be able to secure one before the day arrives.

The official Walt Disney World website has removed the ability to purchase a single-day Magic Kingdom ticket for Monday, December 25, 2023. Single-day tickets for EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are still available as of the time of publishing.

The website has also removed the ability to make a theme park reservation for Christmas Day for all guests (including Walt Disney World Annual Passholders), indicating that Disney, as of right now, anticipates that the park will be at capacity. Reservation availability may fluctuate between now and December 25 as cancellations occur/more openings are added.

Guests who do not currently have Magic Kingdom reservations for December 25 may still be able to access the park that day via a Park Hopper ticket, as the official Walt Disney World website does list Park Hopper Availability for Magic Kingdom from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on that date. This is far from a guarantee, however, as per Disney, “the ability to visit another park [is] subject to the park’s capacity limitations.” Assuming Magic Kingdom is at capacity on Christmas Day, park hopping may not be available.

Both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are completely booked for New Year’s Eve Day, as well, with neither tickets nor reservations currently being offered for either park on December 31.

No One’s Talking About This Super WEIRD Thing That Happens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

When you study Disney World as much as we do, you learn some very bizarre things that happen around the parks.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For example, did you know there is a code word that signals human remains have been found? 😳. Disney does some unique things to keep the magic alive, and today we’re talking about a weird one — “bagging the fish.” Sound bizarre? Honestly, same, but it’s an important part of the production of a popular show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

During the finale of Fantasmic!, characters from the show float by on a boat, driven by Steamboat Willie.

Fantasmic!

For safety, these characters then all head inside to take cover right before the fireworks start to go off — with one exception. One of the characters on the boat is Ariel — in mermaid form! Since she has fins, she can’t walk off like the rest of them.

Fantasmic!

Thankfully, Prince Eric is there to help. Think his job is to carry her off? Nope! Right before exiting the top of the boat himself, he wraps a flame-retardant blanket over her so that she is safely covered and protected from the fireworks. This action is affectionately called “bagging the fish.”

Fantasmic!

Next time you watch this show, keep an eye on Ariel and Prince Eric if you want to see it happen! In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.

GUIDE: Tips for Meeting the Most Characters at Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios

After guests’ complained about the first night of Disney Jollywood Nights, Disney added more character meet and greets to the event. Here are our tips on how you can try to meet them all — or, as many as you can.

Meeting All of the Disney Jollywood Nights Characters

ollie jollywood nights dhs

Guests attending the after-hours event are now able to meet Mickey & Friends, the originally announced “retro” characters, as well as Duffy, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio, Stitch, Snow White & Dopey, and Mary Poppins. That said, the characters have long waits and it is, in our experience, impossible to meet all of them in one night — especially if you want to enjoy any other Jollywood Nights offerings. Here are our tips to help you meet as many characters as possible.

Mickey & Friends

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Mickey

At Animation Courtyard, you can meet six of Mickey and his friends — Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy. The characters are paired in groups of two and they rotate out every 30 minutes.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Minnie 3

If your goal for the night is to meet all six of the characters, we suggest blocking out around three hours to do so. With the party’s four-hour run time, that’ll eat up the majority of your night.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Donald

If your plan is to simply get a holiday photo with whoever you can, we suggest going for the Goofy and Pluto meet and greet. In our experience, it had the shortest wait time, followed by Donald and Daisy. Mickey and Minnie’s character greeting was the busiest by far.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Daisy 1

One thing that sets the meet and greet experience at Jollywood Nights apart from those at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is that the characters at Jollywood Nights do not start meeting guests early. So, while people started waiting in the Animation Courtyard area around 6:30 p.m. during our visit, the greetings didn’t begin until the party’s official start time at 8:30 p.m.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Goofy 4

We noticed that some characters finished meeting at around 12 a.m., a bit shy of the event’s 12:30 a.m. end time, so if a specific character is high on your priority list, it may be best not to save that for the very end of the night.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Pluto

Echo Lake Characters

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers

You can find Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers in the Echo Lake area. Of the characters you can meet by Echo Lake, they had the shortest line, clocking in at around a 15-minute wait.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets phineas and ferb 1

Phineas and Ferb, on the other hand, had one of the longer lines during Disney Jollywood Nights. We suggest budgeting at least an hour to meet the brothers from Danville. They can also be found around Echo Lake, near Gertie the Dinosaur.

DHS Jollywood Nights meet and greets Powerline Max 1

The final Echo Lake character is Max in his Powerline costume. He had a line at around 45 minutes to an hour when we were at the party.

Other Characters

Santa Duffy

To make up for guests’ disappointed response to the first night of Jollywood Nights, the second night saw the addition of a slew of rare characters meeting guests — including Santa Duffy, who we found at the Mickey Shorts Theater. Overall, we’d suggest giving yourself around 45 minutes to meet any of the newly added characters.

DHS Jollywood Nights 2023 Mary Poppins and Penguin 3

If you’re looking for Mary Poppins and Mr. Penguin, we spotted them on Grand Avenue.

DHS Disney Jollywood Nights 2023 Snow White and Dopey 1

Snow White and Dopey alternate with Mary Poppins at the Grand Avenue location.

DHS Disney Jollywood Nights 2023 Pinocchio 3

We found Pinocchio near Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Jiminy Cricket Meet and Greet Jollywood Nights 5

Jiminy Cricket alternates with Pinocchio in the same location. We noticed a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member with many of these characters, ready to take a photo for you if you’d like.

DHS Jollywood Nights Santa Stitch 1

We waited around 40 minutes for a photo with Santa Stitch, who was stationed near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular entrance.

jollywood nights photo ops 1260

If you’re planning a future trip to Jollywood Nights, our biggest tip is to remember that there isn’t enough time to meet all of the characters. We suggest taking into account all of the things you’d like to get done at the party, then figuring out how much time you can allot for character meet and greets. With a solid plan in mind before you head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can get a lot done!
