Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations ended in March 2023, but some things stuck around.
The 50th Anniversary merchandise hasn’t disappeared overnight from the parks, and there are still a few items scattered throughout the gift shops. Some of the more popular snacks from the celebration have remained on menus in the parks, just renamed. But there’s one very obvious anniversary offering that’s still available…and now we know why!
When the 50th Anniversary ended after 18 months, we expected the Disney Fab 50 character statues to go away soon after. These were made for the celebrations and in conjunction with the release of MagicBand+ to give guests a fun scavenger hunt-style activity.
But the statues are still around, each topped with a 50th Anniversary logo. What gives? Well, now Disney has announced that the statues will STAY in the parks and will receive “a touch of timeless pixie dust.”
We have FAB-ulous news! Over the next few months, Imagineers are sprinkling a touch of timeless pixie dust to refresh the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection across all 4 @WaltDisneyWorld theme parks so you can continue to discover and interact with all 50 characters! pic.twitter.com/tYgPppxXX7

Based on the picture Disney shared, it looks like the anniversary logos will be removed so that the statues aren’t dated anymore. If you want to experience the special effects of the statues, you’ll need to purchase a MagicBand+. Stand in front of the statue and wave with the MagicBand+ on your wrist to activate special sound effects and music for each character.
As an added bonus, the sound effects sometimes change for the Halloween and holiday seasons. So make sure to check them out on your next visit!
