We Have To Discuss This Controversial EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Snack

Ooh-la-la…France is back again, and it’s one of the booths you won’t want to miss!

2023 Booth

The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is here which means we’re eating our way around the world! There are plenty of food booths, merch items, and even concerts to check out. It’s a lot to check out, and now we’re heading to the France Booth to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!

Menu

Over at the France Booth, you’ll find some great items. All of the food items are returning from previous years as well as a few drink options. However, we do have two NEW wines being added this year. Get ready because we’ve got a lot of cheese and bread to discuss.

Eats

First up, we grabbed Beignet aux Trois Fromages. This is a Warm Beignet filled with Three Cheese Blend for $6.95. The beignet is sweet, and when we had this snack in the past we didn’t think it mixed well with the warm cheese filling, which is more like a cheesy gravy. This year we pretty much felt the same — it was soupy, and not like a cheese pastry we’re used to where it’s a bit more solid.

Overall though, the flavor with this dish is solid — it’s hard to beat bread, butter, and cheesy goodness all in a warm little package. We just wish it wasn’t so liquidy and instead had a firmer cheese situation going on inside. It’s known for being quite a controversial dish among our team — if you’ve tried it, what do you think?!

Next, we grabbed Croissant aux Escargots — Escargot Croissant with Garlic and Parsley for $7.50. Last year we thought it was garlicky. But, the bread was light and fluffy and we enjoyed it.

The same is true this year — we’re big fans. This dish is full of flavor — the garlic and parsley on top is such a great combination while the croissant itself is buttery and flaky. We only had two snails inside ours, which meant that there was more of the delicious garlic, parsley, and croissant. The snail flavor wasn’t too overpowering but definitely present. If you’re not an adventurous eater, we’d probably sit this one out.

Next, we grabbed Boeuf Bourguignon, Pomme Dauphine: Braised Short Ribs in Cabernet with Puffed Potatoes for $7.75. Last year we thought this dish was very heavy and tasted like your mom’s pot roast. We weren’t super thrilled with the overall flavor this year; it tasted almost bland compared to what we’ve had before.

We really enjoyed the pearl onions, and the pomme dauphine was basically just a few tater tots. Ours were on the soggy side from sitting in the sauce, and despite that, we still wish there had been more sauce overall. Mashed potatoes on the side would have been our choice for this instead!

Finally, we grabbed Crème Brûlée Vanille à la Confiture de Fraises: Vanilla Crème Brûlée with House-Made Strawberry Jam for $5.95. While this item is returning, it is slightly different this year. Last year, the item featured raspberry jam instead. Last year, we enjoyed this dessert — it was simple but light and refreshing.

The strawberry jam inside this dessert is incredible and was probably our favorite part. It’s extremely fresh, light, and sweet, and makes for a refreshing dessert in the middle of a hot EPCOT day. Our only complaint is that ours was pretty torched on top — that could easily just be the one we got or a personal preference thing. The caramelized topping left a bit of a charred taste overall, but we would certainly get this again.

Drinks

Regarding drinks on this menu, we got the Parisian Cosmo Slush made with Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Grand Marnier, and cranberry juice for $14.95.

Parisian Cosmo Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose Le Ctiron Vodka, Grand Marnier and Cranberry Juice

If you like cranberry martinis, this might just be the drink for you! The cranberry flavor was certainly the most prominent, and we really didn’t even taste any of the citron vodka or Grand Marnier. It melted extremely quickly in the Florida heat, but it was pretty darn refreshing and we could see it making for a nice drink. Fair warning though, we thought this bad boy was pretty darn strong for a premixed cocktail. But, it’s giving Barbie vibes and we’re here for it.

There is also a Strawberry Rose Mimosa with Pol Remy Sparkling Wine, orange juice, and Monin Strawberry Rose for $9.25. We really have enjoyed this drink in the past. We’ve loved the strawberry flavor mostly, and were happy to discover this wasn’t one of those super sweet drinks.

Finally, there are two new wines you can get at the booth. A Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend for $5.75 and a Chardonnay for $5.50.

OVERALL

At the France booth, there are some items definitely worth checking out. We think a lot of this food is on the heavy side, but that also means it’s rich and full of flavor. There’s a lot of cheese going on here, but that’s to be expected in France! And if drinks are what you’re after, there are quite a few good ones on the menu here. The Parisian Cosmo Slush is a refreshing addition while the Escargot remains a favorite of ours.
