REVIEW: We’re Having Deja Vu After Trying EPCOT’s Returning Holiday Treat

The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is in full swing and we’ve been bringing you along as we explore all the new (and returning) eats and drinks, entertainment, and more!

Festival of the Holidays

So, whether you want to taste your way around the entirety of World Showcase, or you want to save room for only the best, we’ve got you covered. But, it’s not just the holiday kitchen booths that are home to some sweet treats and drinks, there are also a few select EXTRA locations that are serving up a specialty dish. And, today we’re headed into the France Pavilion to check out what they’re baking up in Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie!

For the past few years, this Quick Service spot has been serving up a well-known holiday favorite — the Buche de Noël. And, this year it is BACK again, but Disney has changed it up once again and reverted it to the flavors that you might recognize from allll the way back in 2018!

Les Halles

This year’s Buche de Noël is a lot less chocolatey than it was last year and instead is a Christmas log with dark chocolate mousse, mint cream, peppermint candies, and a chocolate biscuit. Like we said, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen some of these flavors in the treat.

Les Halles Menu

And, while it has traditionally looked like this…

Buche de Noel from 2020

…this year it has received a full-on makeover and now features a red “log” with white frosting and candies.

The NEW Buche de Noel!

So, besides being WAY more photogenic this year, how does it compare to years past? Well, if you’re looking for the taste of Christmas, then you don’t need to look any further!

Look at how pretty she is!

The main flavors in this treat are mint and peppermint (no surprises there), and the chocolate is really only a lighter taste that adds some depth to the dessert. And, while we REALLY enjoyed photographing this beauty, we couldn’t help but think that it was rather…bland. But, we’re pretty big fans of being smacked in the face with peppermint flavors, so those who prefer more a more subtle taste will likely enjoy this one!

Inside the Buche de Noel

You can find it back at the bakery this holiday season for $8.75, so be sure to stop by and pick it up while it’s still there! And, stay tuned to DFB for more of the latest food updates from Disney World!

PHOTOS: A LEGENDARY Cheesy Dish Has Returned to Disney World!

50’s Prime Time Cafe is a table-service restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios that’ll make you feel like you’re in a quintessential 1950’s home, complete with strict rules about manners at the dinner table and black-and-white televisions playing classic shows!

50’s Prime Time Cafe

The restaurant is home to several iconic items including the signature peanut butter and jelly milkshake! But, one of our favorite dishes has been missing in action for a while. We’re happy to announce that recently a longtime fan-favorite dish (seriously, this one is LEGENDARY) returned to this whimsical restaurant!

Get those stomachs and taste buds ready folks: the Fried Herb and Garlic Cheese is back! This treat is exactly what it sounds like: it’s a piece of breaded and fried cheese with garlic and herb flavors, which is served with Grapes, Apple Slices, a Crostini, and Raspberry Sauce.

The Fried Garlic and Herb Cheese

We’ve loved this dish for a very, very long time (a whole decade!). But, it has come and gone over the years. In the past, we’ve enjoyed the fried cheese because of just how rich and flavorful it is. Pair the creaminess of the cheese with the crispy fried exterior and the touch of sweetness from the fruits and you’ve got a winner! There’s a reason we keep coming back for more, it’s delicious!

Yum!

You can stop by 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios right now to give it a try! At the moment, the item doesn’t appear to be listed on the online menu, but be sure to ask about it during your visit.

BREAKING: Barbara Bouza Named President of Walt Disney Imagineering, Bob Weis Moving to Consultant Role Ahead of Lake Nona Move

Bob Weis and Barbara Bouza

Bob Weis, who has been President of Walt Disney Imagineering for almost 14 years, will be stepping into the role of Global Imagineering Ambassador while Barbara Bouza becomes President. This news comes as Walt Disney Imagineering prepares to move from California to Lake Nona, Florida.

Here is the letter Bob Weis sent to fellow Imagineers to announce the change:

As Imagineers, we are inspired by our history and by those who helped shape it. Disney Legend Marty Sklar — who was a close friend and mentor to me — served as a visionary leader at Imagineering for over five decades and, ultimately, became our Global Imagineering Ambassador. In this role, Marty was able to invest in our legacy as a way to build our future, mentor and advocate for our talent, recruit the next generations of Imagineers, and help record our history through his writing.

Today, I am excited to announce that I will follow Marty’s lead and assume the Global Imagineering Ambassador role beginning next year. I am confident about transitioning into this role now after working with Barbara Bouza over the past 16 months and knowing that the future of Imagineering is secure under her leadership. Barbara has taken on increasing responsibility during her tenure, and I am continually impressed with her talent, her leadership and the relationships she’s already built across our company. I’m also very grateful to have the full support of Josh D’Amaro, who has demonstrated his commitment to Imagineering time and time again and his belief that WDI is critical to our company’s future and overall success.

PHOTOS & VIDEO: The TWO Celebrities You Might See in Magic Kingdom Today

We’ve noticed crowds picking up in Disney World lately as people head to the parks for the holiday season.

Magic Kingdom Crowds

Among the hundreds of guests inside the parks, you might even spot some familiar faces! We’ve seen celebrities in Disney World, whether they’re just visiting with friends and family or there to film a commercial or special. Recently, we saw a few celebs over in EPCOT for some filming. And today there are more big names in the parks! If you’re in the Magic Kingdom today, keep an eye out for a couple of celebrities nearby.

While we were walking by Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, we noticed a setup for filming nearby. There were lights and cameras, as well as a stage decorated for the holidays.

Lots of equipment here!

Guess who we saw on that stage…it was Derek and Julianne Hough!

The siblings are professional dancers (and much more) who many fans may recognize from Dancing With the Stars.

Derek and Julianne Hough

Today they’re filming in Disney World, likely for the Disney Christmas Day Parade that’s coming out this season. We’ve already seen the pair host The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration on November 28th, and they’ll be back for Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade, which airs on Christmas Day.

Getting ready for the holidays

If you’re near Cinderella Castle, you might be able to spot the pair as they prepare for the next big holiday special. Keep an eye out for them!
