A+ For Effort, Disney, But This Halloween Churro Might Have Gone Too Far

The Spookiest Time of the Year is here! Disney World may have a head start on Disneyland, but the West Coast parks are playing catchup in a serious way! That means it’s time to munch on some new Halloween treats!

The decorations are up in Cars Land!

We stopped by Disney California Adventure to try out a brand new Halloween churro!

The new Chocolate and Matcha Churro is here for the Halloween season! This treat features a Churro rolled in Chocolate Cookie Crumbs, drizzled with a Matcha Cream Cheese Buttercream and Strawberry Sauce. You can find this treat over at Willie’s Churros in Disney California Adventure for $6.75! Ready?? There’s a LOT going on here:

Chocolate, Matcha, AND Strawberries?!

We weren’t sure if we were going to like this one, but we were pleasantly surprised by…some parts of it! The combination of strawberries and chocolate was a winning pair for us and the gummy worms were a nice touch of extra sweetness and texture.

We’re not sure about this one…

However, we got to talk about the matcha cream cheese buttercream, guys. We did NOT like the matcha on this churro! Now, we’re not saying that this churro is bad by any stretch of the imagination, but beware of the matcha flavor if you’re not a fan of green tea! If you’re not big on matcha flavor, you can ask for no matcha cream cheese buttercream or for it on the side. You can also do the same with the strawberry sauce and get that on the side too.

The gummy worms and chocolate were highlights!

Green tea? Good. But with so much else going on here, it makes a big ol’ messy puddle of sweet chocolate strawberry taste like it got doused in grassy flavored goo. (Which, honestly, bravo for +1-ing the “worms ‘n dirt” theme in that way? Dirt? Grass? We see you, Disney.) This one gets an A+ for the fun Halloween look though, so it might be worth it just for some fun pics and we bet kids will want this as soon as they see it (cause ALL THE GOO! GUMMY WORMS!), but just warn them the green stuff will taste like a cheesecake made from grass (hey, if your kids like the earthy taste of green tea, more power to em!). We think with the sauce on the side to dip to your liking, this would be much more enjoyable (but lose out on the kewl spooky look!).
