Chocolate-Lovers MUST Try the Latest DFB Snack Hack in Disney World!

Okay, so y’all know us — we love combining Disney World snacks to make a brand new snack. We are all about hacking our Disney food!

We’re going to hack this milkshake

We’ve hacked Disney food to make a Mickey Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich with Peanut Butter Sauce, a Coconut Dole Whip Churro Sundae, a Nutella Fresh Fruit Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich, a Num Num Cookie Sundae, and more! Mixing and combining flavors is SO much fun!

So today, we decided we needed to try a new milkshake hack at Magic Kingdom, but we started with the Chocolate Bundt Cake at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for $5.49. It’s got Purple Icing!

Chocolate Bundt Cake

Then we headed over to Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and picked up a Chocolate Milkshake for $7.99. And as you can see, it has some fun galactic sprinkles on top!

The shake

Also, when we told the Cast Members at Auntie Gravity’s what we were up to, they gave us extra sprinkles for the cake, too. That’s what Cast Members do — they make just about EVERYTHING, including our snacks, more magical! But just a heads up that the sprinkles don’t come with the brownie, but we think they should! 😉

We LOVE the sprinkles!

And so the experiment began! We put the Chocolate Bundt cake ON TOP of the Chocolate Shake and created a new Masterpiece! What should we call this one? Maybe Chocolate Bundt Cake Shake?

Behold our fun hack!

Whatever we call it, it sure looks delicious, doesn’t it?

Time to dig in!

So here’s the thing, the Chocolate Shake is pretty good on its own, but that Chocolate Bundt Cake is so fudgy and yummy that it just takes the shake up a notch. It’s pretty “out of this world” if you ask us (yes…we really went there)!

YES!

But can you ever really go wrong by mixing ice cream with cake? We don’t think so… .

We’re pretty happy with our latest creation, and if you’d like to try it, too, go for it! And let us know what you think! We’ll keep sharing all our food hacks, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

7 NEW Announcements About Disney World’s Star Wars Hotel

Until Friday, many details about the new Star Wars hotel have been kept under wraps. We had (more than a few) questions about the timeline, story elements, and food that would be available on the Galactic Starcruiser, but now we’ve got some answers!

©Disney

In a pretty lengthy new video, Disney Imagineers sat down and explained tons of new information about the Star Wars: Galatic Starcruiser.

So the Star Wars: Galatic Starcruiser may technically be considered a hotel, where guests will stay for 2 days and 2 nights, but it sounds like it will be more like a cruise than a regular Disney hotel. With that in mind, let’s dive into 8 new things we learned about the new Star Wars: Galatic Starcruiser.

1. You don’t have to participate in the story if you don’t want to

Disney Imagineers finally clarified something that we’ve been dying to know: Do I have to participate in the experience?

You can chill in your room or explore the ship! ©Disney

The answer is, it’s completely up to you! According to the Imagineers, there will be “so many different ways to engage,” and “You don’t have to participate if you don’t want to.” If the Star Wars fan in your family wants to make some trouble with the dark side, they can! But, you can sit back “and drink that space cocktail” if that’s more your thing!

Read more about this announcement here!

2. The Crown of Corellia will serve unique Star Wars-inspired foods

Blue shrimp, dry ice, mysterious, circular dishes…Disney wasn’t kidding when they said they were “taking really delicious things and presenting them in unexpected ways.”

Seriously, what IS this?! ©Disney

There’s even some kind of crazy food that will be inspired by Mustafar, a planet known for heat and lava. We wonder if it will be spicy! Does lava make you think sweet, or savory? We can’t decide!

Take a look at ALL of the food photos that have been shared for the Star Wars hotel so far!

3. Like a cruise ship, meals are included in the price

While we still don’t have a price, we do know that meals will be included in the overall price for the Star Wars hotel.

And while we’re on the subject of cruise-like experiences, it’s probably important to mention that there will also be live entertainment and music while dining!

4. There will be a hidden part of the ship for guests to explore

If guests are feeling adventurous it was revealed that the Engineering Room will be a HIDDEN room for guests to try and find!

Shhh! It’s a secret! ©Disney

Will guests bump into a friendly face, or someone a little more sinister?

Read MORE about the hidden ROOM here!

5. The hotel experience will seamlessly tie into Galaxy’s Edge

Disney Imagineers explained that they tapped into the detailed story already established in Galaxy’s Edge and will build off those details to show guests things that wouldn’t normally be seen as a day guest traveling through Batuu.

Black Spire Outpost

Not only that, but guests will learn about the backstory on Smuggler’s Run, including top-secret information on the identity of the coaxium buyer that Hondo references on the ride!

Get ALL the details on how Galaxy’s Edge will time into the Star Wars Hotel here.

6. We now have an OFFICAL opening timeline

We’ve been waiting for this one! Disney finally announced a timeline for the Galactic Starcruiser!

©Disney

The Star Wars hotel will officially open in the Spring of 2022! We can’t wait!!

Read MORE about the reopening timeline for the Star Wars Hotel here!

7. Guests can help throw someone into a brig—or break them out!

We caught this interesting tidbit in the video, where an Imagineer explains, “There might be someone that you help stowaway, and there might be someone you help get thrown in a brig or break out!”

©Disney

The story taking place on the Galactic Starcruiser will be happening all around the passengers, and they can help shape the fate of the galaxy during their stay! We told you this isn’t your typical hotel experience!

With so many incredible new details released about the Star Wars hotel, are you tempted to make the journey to a galaxy far, far away? We’ll keep our eyes out for more details and information about the new Star Wars hotel, so stay tuned!

A Unique Dessert is BACK at One of Our Favorite Disney World Restaurants!

There are TONS of awesome restaurants in Disney Springs. But even with some impressive competition, Morimoto Asia still stands out as one of our favorite spots!

Morimoto Asia

The restaurant specializes in Pan-Asian food, focusing on Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines. One of our favorite things about Morimoto Asia is the interesting variety in their menu. We’ve had everything from beer cheese to frog legs here!

If you’ve got a sweet tooth like us, this news is for you. Morimoto Asia announced that the fan-favorite Yuzu Pie is now available on the dessert menu!

Morimoto Asia

The restaurant compares this dish to key lime pie, which makes sense since yuzu is a citrus fruit known for its tart flavor! The yuzu pie is made with (of course) yuzu, mango compote, and yogurt air cake.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for other exciting menu additions around Disney World, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all of the latest updates!

In preparation for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, much of the Magic Kingdom is undergoing refurbishment, including Be Our Guest Restaurant. Repainting has already begun on the rockwork outside the entry, and it seems it will soon expand to the castle. A sign on the bridge lets guests know about the ongoing refurbishment. The current rockwork being repainted is seen on the left. To the right, scaffolding now surrounds the castle atop the mountain. A closer look at the rockwork […]

You Walk HOW MUCH On a Disney World Vacation?!

Visiting Disney World takes the phrase “a walk in the park” to a whole new level!

Tree of Life

There are a lot of things to prepare for before heading to Disney World. You may have spent months planning where to eat, which attractions to hit, and what must-have souvenirs to buy. But in order to REALLY be ready to conquer the parks, you might need to do some physical prep as well! Bust out those pedometers, cause we’re breaking down how many miles you’ll really put on those feet in Disney World!

How Far Will You Walk on an Average Disney World Day?

There are tons of words that could describe Disney World, one of which is HUGE! And given the massive size of the property, navigating around it can be a serious workout!

EPCOT

Most of your walking will probably take place inside the parks, but you can also rack up some serious steps just getting around your hotel. Especially if you’re staying somewhere that’s super spread out like Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

That’s a LOT of walking at Caribbean Beach Resort!

While your mileage may vary (literally!), our reporters walk an average of 20,000-25,000 steps in a day (about 10-12 miles!!).

Main Street, U.S.A.

If they’re park hopping, they tend to hit at least 25,000 steps (about 12 miles), and occasionally they’ll even hit 30,000 steps (about 15 miles) in a single day. We’re getting exhausted just thinking about all that walking!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Keep in mind the parks are LARGE, and to cover most of them, you’ll be racking up those miles too! Just one loop around World Showcase in EPCOT is 1.2 miles! For most people, the super high step count WAY exceeds what they walk on a normal day at home, so prepare accordingly!

10 Disney World Essentials You Can Get on Amazon!

Here’s How You Can Prepare for Walking in Disney World!

If you head into your vacation unprepared for that level of physical activity, you might find yourself getting burnt out pretty quickly. That’s why we suggest that you “train” for your Disney World trip at home by going on long walks leading up to your vacation. While you’re building out your training plan, keep in mind that all Disney walkways are concrete, so make sure you’re factoring that detail in and work on walking on sidewalks, not just treadmills or around local track facilities where the ground might be a bit more forgiving.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Be sure to wear the same shoes you plan to wear in the parks so you can break them in and make sure they’ll be comfortable over long distances!

Sperry Shoes

Realistically, you might not be able to work 25,000 steps a day into your schedule for your “training,” but try to get to a point where you can walk at least 5 miles comfortably. Remember, you’ll rarely walk that long uninterrupted. Stops for rides, food, and more will give you little breaks throughout the day.

A day walking around EPCOT is no joke. Your feet will get tired REAL fast!

Here’s where we remind you for the 1000th time to pleeeease make sure you have your shoes — and a backup pair — WELL broken in before your trip! NEVER wear brand new shoes to the parks! Even if it’s the same style you’ve worn before, your park shoes should be broken-in and well-tested. TRUST US. Been there, done that, not going back!

Red Platform Sneakers

Speaking of those essential broken-in shoes, pack a few pairs in your suitcase. Your shoes may end up getting soaked from the Florida rain (or water rides!), so it’s helpful to have a backup pair to wear while you give the other pair a day to dry out.

Running Trail

Plus, no matter how careful you are, you still might end up with a blister. Sometimes those PERFECT broken-in shoes you wear day in and day out at home just…fail at Disney World. Sometimes walking upwards of 10-15 miles in a day, your feet can move around differently against your shoe than they would on a “normal” day back home. Now those comfy perfect shoes are out to get you and those blisters HURT. If that happens, wearing a different pair of shoes can help avoid putting pressure on the same sore spot on your foot.

Bring Several Pairs of Broken-In Shoes!

You can also pack items like ibuprofen and IcyHot to help counteract any soreness that pops up. Ever heard of shin splints? It’s basically a sharp pain in your shin area when you put pressure on your leg caused by overuse and it can last for days. It’s mega common for Disney World guests unfamiliar with walking so much to wake up the second day, stand up and go “OWW!” Having an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen and ice at the ready (hit up your hotel vending machine!) can be a lifesaver (or leg saver, in this case).

Gift Shop Medicine

And again, since blisters can sneak up on even the most well-prepared guests, bring moleskin for an extra layer of protection and band-aids to cover any stubborn blisters that still manage to pop up.

Blisters Can Happen to Even the Most Prepared Guests!

A lot of the walking you do in Disney World is unavoidable. But you can help cut down on some unnecessary steps by familiarizing yourself with the layout of the parks ahead of time to avoid backtracking. Trust us, your feet will thank you later!

Tomorrowland

On a similar note, try to finish everything you want to do in one area before moving on to the next section of the park. Knocking out a land and avoiding backtracking can shave miles off your day!

Tower of Terror

If you do end up needing to move on, stay close by instead of wandering across the park. For example, if you just got off of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain is next on your list but it’s temporarily down, stick to something in one of the neighboring lands, like Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square or Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland.

We see guests alllll the time head to Space Mountain THEN Splash Mountain on the opposite side of the park THEN all the way back to do the PeopleMover THEN across the park to check out Pirates of the Caribbean. We’re exhausted reading that! That’s SO much extra walking! Pick your route and stick to it!

Haunted Mansion

And keep in mind, it’s not just the walking that can get ya! Standing can also be rough on the body, and you’re likely to be doing a LOT of it around Disney World!

Happily Ever After

Standing on concrete can be especially tough (plan to do a LOT of it if you want a good fireworks spot!). For a special bonus tip, stop into a Basin store in Disney Springs or the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to buy a bath bomb or two for a soak back at your hotel.

Basin in the Grand Floridian

Soaking your feet at the end of a long day can be a nice way to treat your tootsie to their own vacation. You may as well make it fun with a Basin bath bomb or bath salts and treat yo’self! In a pinch, Disney hotel lotion can ease those tired dogs before bed. Slather some on and hit they hay. Your feet will thank you in the morning.

What’s In Our Bag?! DFB Reporters Share Their Secrets in Disney World
