Universal Orlando Reinstates Finger Scanners at Park Entrances

It seems like each time we visit the theme parks, they’re introducing something new — or bringing back something from the past!

Universal Orlando Resort

Lately, the big news from Universal Orlando has been the modified Halloween Horror Nights experiences being offered this Halloween season! However, as the parks continue moving forward with the next level of reopening, Universal has also made several operational changes in the parks.

Recently, Universal Orlando announced that select rides like the Incredible Hulk Coaster and Rip Ride Rockit would no longer be distancing between seats. Now Universal has also confirmed that the parks will be reinstating the finger scanners at the entrances, instead of just the turnstiles.

There will still be health and safety protocols in place, with hand sanitizer available to guests before the entrances and sanitization of the scanners between each party. Guests will still be required to wear face masks, social distance, and go through temperature checks at Universal Orlando as well.

Disney World also suspended finger scanners during their initial reopening, however, they have not yet announced plans to reinstate this process at the parks.

Universal Orlando and Disney World could see additional changes in the near future with Florida’s shift into Phase 3 of reopening. So, while they have announced that there are no immediate plans for changes, we’ll continue to keep a close eye out for any updates.

Here’s what our readers had to say about whether they would return to a Disney World restaurant with 100% capacity!
