Avoid Disappointing Surprises in Disney World By Seeing What’ll Be CLOSED Next Week

A huge part of any Disney World visit is the rides and attractions in each theme park. But what happens when some of these rides aren’t open?

Cinderella Castle

Disney frequently refurbishes theme park rides to keep them all in great working order, which means that sometimes the attractions aren’t open to guests. To make sure you’re not disappointed by a surprise ride closure in the middle of your trip, we’ve got a list here of all the rides, attractions, and hotels that are scheduled to be CLOSED in Disney World next week. Take a look so that you know what to plan for on your upcoming vacation.

Let’s start out the list with Magic Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom

The Walt Disney World Railroad is still going to be closed in Magic Kingdom next week. This isn’t exactly a surprise, as the attraction has been closed for a few years now.

Spotted testing!

The closure is in part due to refurbishments on the attraction and in part due to construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. Because of construction on that ride, the stretch of railroad tracks from Fantasyland to the Main Street, U.S.A. station has been removed

TRON construction

We don’t have an opening date for the TRON roller coaster yet, but we’re expecting the Railroad to remain closed at least until construction there is completed. We’ll keep an eye out for specific opening dates for both of these attractions!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is closed for refurbishments. Disney stated that the ride would be closed through mid-April 2022, but for now, it’s listed as remaining closed until May 1st, 2022. It’s possible that Disney simply hasn’t updated the calendar, and Everest could reopen earlier than that date.

Expedition Everest

Finding Nemo: The Musical is closed as well. When this show returns, it’ll actually be reimagined with a new plot and characters, and it’ll be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

Finding Nemo: The Musical is getting some changes!

This show is all about Finding Nemo‘s sequel, Finding Dory! We can’t wait to check out the changes when the show debuts sometime in 2022.

EPCOT

Souk-Al-Magreb, a gift shop in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, is closed right now. We recently got a peek inside the shop because Cast Members were working on one of the doors, and we saw that the shop is still empty, with no shelves inside.

Souk-Al-Magreb

This gift shop disappears from the refurbishment calendar on April 24th, 2022, so it’s possible that the store will reopen on that day! But Souk-Al-Magreb has disappeared and then returned to the calendar in the past, so we don’t know for sure.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will see 2 long-term closures continue this coming week. The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is closed, and it doesn’t have a reopening date yet.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

And Fantasmic! is also not currently running. This fan-favorite show will come back sometime in 2022, but Disney hasn’t given a more specific timeline yet.

When Fantasmic! returns, we’ll see some updates, such as new characters and stunts.

Disney World Water Parks

Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is currently closed. Disney hasn’t announced when it might reopen, but Typhoon Lagoon (Disney’s other water park) is open at this time!

Typhoon Lagoon is also showing some longer opening hours, with the park being open until 6PM (instead of 5PM) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Disney World Hotels

Exciting news! All of the Disney World hotels are now open and welcoming guests since Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort reopened on March 31st.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is still open, but they’ve started construction on 200 new DVC Resort Studios, which will be located in the Big Pine Key building.

New DVC rooms

Both DVC members and guests who aren’t DVC members can now book their stay in these new rooms. The rooms, which have a Mary Poppins Returns theme, are expected to open in the summer of 2022.

Take a virtual tour of the new rooms here!

Hotel Pool Refurbishments

Some Disney World hotel pools are currently closed, so be sure to see if any of these closures will affect your upcoming vacation. At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Martinique Village pool is closed for refurbishment. The pool is expected to reopen in mid-April 2022. Other pools at this hotel are still available for guests, including the Fuentes del Morro Pool.

The Cozy Cone Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is closed right now. Disney has said it will reopen sometime in mid-April 2022.

While the Cozy Cone Pool is closed, the Flippin’ Fins Pool and Big Blue Pool will remain open for guests staying at this hotel.

The Righteous Reef Playground area in the Finding Nemo section of the hotel is currently closed for some refurbishments.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool is closed. It will remain closed through April 2022. Guests at this hotel can head to the Uzima Springs Pool (also located at this hotel) instead.
