7 BIG Disney World Construction Updates to See Before Your Next Trip

Greetings from the Most Magical Place on Earth!

50th Anniversary Cinderella Castle

We’re taking in all that the fall season around Disney World has to offer, from treats to merch to Not-So-Scary parties! But, just because Halloween is here doesn’t mean that construction has stopped, so let’s take a look at the biggest Disney World construction updates from this week!

Magic Kingdom

Center Street

Over in Magic Kingdom just off of Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll find Center Street. But right now, you’ll find it in a state of refurbishment. The road is being resurfaced, so for now you won’t be able to walk all the way down that street.

Center Street construction continues

Fortunately, the sidewalks on either side of Center Street are still open and we’ll let you know if anything changes with this progress.

TRON: Lightcycle Run

Progress is zooming by over at TRON: Lightcycle Run, where this week we caught ride vehicle testing multiple times! Hopefully, this means that Cast Members are moving into the final stages of building this attraction and we’ll be able to ride it soon.

Vehicle testing!

You can potentially catch a glimpse of TRON vehicle testing when you pass by on the PeopleMover — but it happens at random times on random days, so you’ll just have to get lucky!

We’re keeping an eye out for more updates with TRON, so be sure to stay tuned for the latest.

EPCOT

Cool Wash

This seasonal spot over near Test Track has recently been used as a rest area with tables for EPCOT festivals, but on our most recent park visit, we saw that it was covered by the infamous Disney construction shrubs.

We’re not quite sure what Disney has planned for this area or how long it will be blocked off, but we’ll keep you posted!

Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana

Things are rockin’ over at Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. It looks like crews are working on adding more details and shaping to each of the large rock structures that will eventually house all sorts of water features.

Much more scaffolding has been moved in so that Cast Members can work their magic, and some of the rocks have even been painted other colors from the grey that we’ve been seeing.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest updates about a potential opening timeline for this attraction — in typical Disney fashion, they’re keeping things under wraps!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dinosaur

The construction shrubs have popped up in front of Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom! They’re currently surrounding the fountain, which was recently worked on and painted.

What’s going on here?

We’re checking up on this area every time we’re in the park, so stay tuned for updates.

Oasis Exhibits

Over at the Oasis Exhibits in Animal Kingdom, you’ll find a green construction wall blocking off part of the area.

A wall is up but it doesn’t affect your views

Luckily, this doesn’t affect any exhibit views!

Disney Resorts

Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing an expansion, and up until recently, we’ve only seen dirt, dirt, and uh, more dirt in the construction zone. But on our last monorail pass-by, we spotted some scaffolding that moved in. It also looks like a few more machines have joined the party, so maybe we’ll get to see some real progress soon!

The latest

Now is a GREAT time to head to Disney World! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has kicked off, and we’re still eating and drinking around the world at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, too!

Later this year we’re expecting all sorts of holiday cheer at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays — you can read more here.
