WARNING: The Payment Policy Has CHANGED at 2 Souvenir Experiences in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Things are always changing in Disney World, which is why we stay on top of everything so we can tell you about those changes.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Sometimes those changes are HUGE, like an opening date for a new ride (Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’re looking at you — give us an official date already!). Sometimes, it might be a change that happened on a Disney World menu or a snack that’s gone missing. However, we’ve got a new update to tell you about that will change how you pay for two experiences in Disney World.

If you’ve visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may have discovered that you can be part of a custom lightsaber building experience at Savi’s Workshop or build your own droid at Droid Depot.

Droid Depot

To do so, you would make a reservation online before you arrive in the park. You make that reservation with a credit card, but your card would not be charged until you checked in for the experience.

Well, now that has changed.

Savi’s Workshop

You will now have to pre-pay for the experiences at Savi’s Workshop and Droid Depot when you make your reservation through the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app.

We also spoke with a Cast Member at Droid Depot, who explained that if you choose to add any accessories during the experience, you can pay for that at the time of your reservation. The payment would just be for the build itself. Also, you can only use Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Member discounts at these locations on accessories.

Droid Depot

If you need to cancel your reservation, you must do so at least 24 hours before your reservation. If you don’t, you will forfeit that pre-payment that you made. The same also goes if you’re a no-show. If you do cancel your reservation at least 24 hours before, your credit card will be refunded the amount you prepaid.

Note that the language on the Disney World website doesn’t reflect this yet, but we have confirmed that this new payment policy has started. We also want to point out that we’re not sure if this will be the same situation in Disneyland, but we’ll keep an eye on the situation and let you know if it is.
