It’s the Walt Disney World equivalent of purse snatching: grabbing somebody else’s Mickey Mouse ears.

Mark Robinson, 54, of Romeoville, Ill., is charged with robbery, a third-degree felony, after he was accused of yanking off a Mickey Mouse ears hat from a stranger’s head at the Magic Kingdom. He said it was a mix-up. He thought the woman was wearing the same pair of ears his daughter left behind on a ride earlier that day.

The incident happened in December. WDWNT is writing about it now because that’s how long it took the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to release the public records

The victim, a 36-year-old woman named Susana from Milwaukee, Wisc., exited an attraction with her husband and child when Robinson began yelling at her from behind in the park. She ignored him because she didn’t realize he was trying to get her attention.

“Mark proceeded to forcefully snatch a Mickey Mouse ears style hat from off of Susana’s
head claiming the hat belonged to his daughter,” the sheriff’s report said.

Susana told him the ears were hers. She bought them a while back at an outlet store.

Robinson began arguing with her. Susana’s husband pushed Robinson away from his wife.

Law enforcement soon intervened.

Robinson spoke to a sheriff’s deputy to give his side of the story.

“Mark and his family were getting off of a Disney ride when his daughter asked to go back to the Buzz Lightyear ride because she thought she left her Mickey Mouse ear hat there. Mark’s daughter returned to the location but did not find the hat she lost,” the report said. “As Mark’s family was walking to another ride, he noticed Susana wearing the same styled hat his daughter lost. Mark advised he did call Susana’s attention. When she did not answer, Mark grabbed the hat off of Susana’s head asking why she was wearing his daughter’s hat.”

On Dec. 20, Robinson pleaded not guilty, according to Orange Circuit Court online records.

Robinson’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
