Fans Are DIVIDED on This Controversial Hollywood Studios CHANGE

Recently, a long-awaited change took place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Hey Woody!

You may have noticed that while some character meet-and-greets have gone back to normal (close interactions) after the 2020 park closures, other characters have remained behind dividers of some kind in “character sightings.” This is where you’d see Chip and Dale having a picnic in Hollywood Studios, or watch Pooh with his butterfly net in EPCOT. Just this month, a popular meet and greet FINALLY returned in Hollywood Studios, but fans are pretty divided on it.

For years, we’ve been seeing Chip and Dale have a picnic together in Hollywood Studios, instead of a normal meet and greet. We love watching them have fun and get up to their normal shenanigans, but now, they’re back to a regular meet and greet in the park!

Chip and Dale meeting in DHS!

While we’re so excited we can hug them again, a part of us misses seeing them in their “natural habitat,” for lack of a better term. We asked our readers on Facebook what they prefer, and we were surprised to find many of you feel how we do — conflicted!

Donald and Daisy!

Most of our readers were divided and wanted one or the other. But as it turns out, there were several who said they would love to hug Chip and Dale AND see them frolic around while they get ready for a picnic! Many of our readers pointed out that with how much a park ticket costs, you should be able to experience both.

Hi, Tinkerbell!

One reader shared that one of her favorite Disney photos she has is of her grandson walking in Hollywood Studios with a Stitch hat on. And guess what? Stitch was just 10 feet away, walking towards them! She described the experiences as “spontaneous and heartwarming.”

And that’s ultimately what a lot of you said — that while you love getting to hug characters and have a conversation with them, you also love to see them roaming around and getting to have those unexpected and exciting interactions that often end up in very sweet, natural photos. Some of our readers shared with us that they aren’t big fans of the photos you take during the actual meet and greets, because they often look/feel more stiff and practiced.

Pluto out roaming!

Disneyland is a bit more well-versed in the roaming character world, and Disney World used to have its fair share of roaming characters years ago too, but that’s decreased in recent years. So Disney, if you’re listening, here’s what we all want — BOTH! We’d love to be able to meet characters in a traditional setting but also get to see them roaming around, having fun, and allowing us those spontaneous moments.

We love them
