PHOTOS: Scaffolding Erected Around Tiana’s Foods Water Tower at Disneyland

Five weeks after the Tiana’s Foods water tower was installed outside Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland Park, scaffolding has gone up around it for more work.

While the salt mine mountain in Florida is now covered in foliage, its California counterpart is still brown and gray as crews update the rockwork. There is now scaffolding right next to the millhouse. There had previously been a blue tarp on the front of the building. It has yet to be repainted like the Magic Kingdom version.

According to the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure backstory, after the events of “The Princess and the Frog,” Tiana founded Tiana’s Foods. The co-op is based out of an old Louisiana salt mine. The Tiana’s Foods water tower features the group’s logo, which is also pictured in color on construction wall signs. The water tower is topped with a giant metal version of Tiana’s lily-inspired tiara.

During our recent trip, we saw crew members working new the opening in the mountain, which leads to the famous drop. We also saw a crew member on a scaffolding platform on the lower right side.

Scaffolding surrounds the legs of the water tower. In Florida, the legs have been painted with faux vines. Trees covered in Spanish moss will also be installed around the water tower.

We could see the legs better from the side, where construction walls don’t block the view. There are no green vines on them yet, but the bottoms of the legs are surrounded by tarps. Some of the nearby rocks are also covered in tarps.

Welder by flume

By the ride flume on the side of the mountain, we saw a Lincoln Electric welder.

We didn’t see any crew members in this section of the flume. Last time we visited, one crew member was actually inside one of the holes in the rockwork. Another was shoveling debris.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will open this summer but it will open “later in 2024” at Disneyland. Disney recently shared a look at an advanced Tiana audio-animatronic. Though the featured animatronic will likely be at Walt Disney World, the Disneyland version of the ride is expected to be almost exactly the same.
