Doubloon Lagoon pool and Mardi Grogs pool bar are currently closed as they undergo a routine refurbishment at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter.
Guests hoping to head toward the pool area of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter are met with A-frame signs letting them know that the pool area, including Doubloon Lagoon and Mardi Grogs pool bar are closed for refurbishment. Per the Disney site, they will be closed through April 2024.
Doubloon Lagoon Refurbishment
Doubloon Lagoon, the sole pool in the French Quarter section of Port Orleans, has been emptied, with all of the pool’s lining removed in preparation of a replacement. Scales, the 51-foot-long sea serpent slide has been partially covered to protect it from the construction work.
There is still quite a bit of debris left in the pool, indicating that it’s not quite ready for new lining to be installed.
During our visit, crew members were on site, working on the refurbishment.
The spa area that features a whirlpool is closed during the refurbishment.
Also closed is the Aquatic Play Area, a water play section designated for guests 48 inches and under that features water slides, fountains, and water cannons. It is unclear if this section will get worked on during the refurbishment. There was no work happening while we were there, but the water is turned off.
While the French Quarter pool area is closed, a shuttle service is in place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily to transport guests to Ol’ Man Island Pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside.
Mardi Grogs Pool Bar Refurbishment
Temporary walls are up at the location of Mardi Grogs pool bar. When open, the bar is conveniently located right outside an entrance to Doubloon Lagoon.
There are a number of signs around the area letting guests know a temporary bar can be found close by, near building 5, along the Sassagoula River.
Though temporary, the bar has a good amount of seating on both sides, and heat lamps.
The temporary Mardi Grogs location is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features a scaled-back version of the location’s menu. Guests can pick up pool bar bites, speciality drinks, beer & wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.
If you’re staying at French Quarter through February 29, you can celebrate Mardi Gras at the resort, by heading to Scat Cat’s Club – Café to try their limited-time bananas foster beignets.
