Listen up! It seems that Disney is meaning business when it comes to cracking down on password sharing for Disney+ accounts in 2024.

It hasn’t been too long since the last time Disney mentioned cracking down on password sharing between Disney+ households. That conversation has even inspired other streaming services to follow suit, too! Now, Disney has shared yet another update on its plans to reduce password sharing among subscribers.
Disney had already promised to crack down on password sharing between households for its popular streaming service Disney+, but now we know more about how they plan to enforce it. During Disney’s 2024 Q1 earnings call, The Walt Disney Company revealed the latest in its plans to make good on its promise of sticker enforcement.

Based on what was shared during the call, Disney is going to be actively cracking down on account holders who are sharing their account passwords with folks who do not reside in the same household. While the streaming platform was originally meant to share between devices like your T.V., iPad, computer, and even mobile phones, it seems that account holders were taking that even further outside of just that immediate circle.

Disney has said that they are working on plans for account holders who want to allow access to individuals outside of their household. Those who opt-in for this service add-on will be able to add them to their accounts for an additional fee later this year.

While there’s definitely more to learn about how many people will be allowed per account additionally (and how much it will cost to add to your existing service), Disney isn’t sharing that information with us just yet. For now, we’ll just be waiting to hear from Disney what the future holds for add-on services to existing plans and we’ll be sure to update you once we know more about them!
