Watch out! It’s going to be a busy weekend!
As you know, whenever Disney World has exclusive events, there’s almost always extra crowds at the parks and hotels. Events are happening this weekend at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios that will most likely ramp up the chaos, so let’s talk about it!
There are two special ticketed events going on in Disney World this weekend (one on Friday, February 2nd, and the other on February 4th) and we found out why that is.
The National Dance Team Championship is happening in Orlando, and one of the main venues for this event will be the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. Historically, the teams taking part in this event stay on Disney property, so if you’re planning your trip during this time, keep that in mind. (We’ve seen a lot of those large groups and dance teams typically staying at Disney’s Value Resorts, like All-Star Sports, Music, and Movies.)
These participating teams also have the opportunity to purchase park tickets to Disney World — meaning that the parks may be significantly more crowded during these times. This brings us to the events we were talking about earlier. Disney is hosting an After Hours party at Magic Kingdom on Friday, February 2nd from 11PM to 1AM, and then a Celebration party at Hollywood Studios on February 4th from 9PM to 1AM.
These parties require special tickets that were sold to participants in the convention and their families. If your trip to Disney World lines up with these events, keep in mind that the crowd levels may increase, and traffic around the parks may be more backed up than usual. Plan accordingly!
Right now, it looks like Magic Kingdom will be closing at 11PM and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing at 9PM for park guests on the nights of the parties, but we will update you if that changes as the events get closer.
If more information is announced, we’ll be sure to update you — so keep checking in with us at DFB.
