NEW Disney World Permits Hint at CHANGES Coming To an Iconic Magic Kingdom Ride

Being a Disney World fan is sometimes… difficult. Of course, in the grand scheme of things — we’re lucky to be able to visit the parks so often and notice each change that takes place.

But sometimes, those changes make us downright mad — especially when it’s to something we’ve come to know like the backs of our hands. That’s why we’re always on the hunt for the latest clues as to what changes might be in store for Disney World — and we found quite a bit this time around!

We take a look at permits recently filed by Disney to get an idea of what might be in store for the parks and more, and here’s what we found this time around.

Magic Kingdom

Alright y’all, buckle up — we found a permit for an iconic Magic Kingdom ride. Keep in mind, though, that this just means work might be getting started over here and that it could really be any type of construction. A general construction permit has been filed for Pirates of the Caribbean!

The permit description doesn’t get any more specific than “general construction,” but it was filed on December 4th and doesn’t expire until November 1st, 2024. This may be just for something simple, but we’ll keep an eye on any potential changes.

We also spotted a permit for general construction over at what appears to be the Ferry Dock at the Transportation and Ticket Center, and we’ll let you know if it will impact your trip.

EPCOT

Quite a few EPCOT World Showcase Pavilions have had permits filed for them recently! Each appears to just be more general construction — without any further specifics — but it looks like work might be getting started in Germany

…and the American Adventure Pavilion.

It also looks like a new permit has been filed for World Celebration — to “install [a] cladding system.”

Animal Kingdom

The Kali River Rapids loading queue area will possibly be getting some love in the near future. A permit was recently filed to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction” over here.

Kali River Rapids

As of now, the Kali River Rapids page on the Disney World website doesn’t show any closures, but we often see water rides go down for maintenance during the winter, so it’s possible that’s when this might occur. We’ll keep you updated!
