REVIEW: These Drinks Are Basically Liquid Churros at Disney’s Festival of Holidays

If you’re looking for the perfect drinking spot in Disneyland during the holidays, this next booth is the one for you.

Brews & Bites

The 2023 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays has kicked off at Disneyland Resort and will allow guests the opportunity to devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more now through January 7th, 2024. The Brews & Bites booth has a lot to offer and we’re sharing our full thoughts with you!

Menu

Over at the Brews & Bites booth, you’ll find a variety of available items. While there’s only one bite on the menu, there are PLENTY of drinks to be had — both new and returning!

Brews & Bites Menu

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Eats

The only item on the menu to munch on is the returning IMPOSSIBLE Chorizo Queso Fundido with house-made tortilla chips for $7.50.

Impossible Chorizo Queso Fundido

Last year we loved this dish and couldn’t even tell the meat wasn’t real — it was so flavorful! The chips were salty and crispy and paired very well with the dip. If you’re looking for a tasty, salty snack to use to scoop up that delicious cheese, we highly recommend grabbing this one.

Drinks

There are TONS of drinks to grab at this booth. We started with the Churro Ale with Frozen Beer Slush, which is churro ale with a frozen slush of beer, butterscotch, gingerbread, and house-made churro toffee syrups for $17. This is a new item this year that we were really looking forward to trying!

Churro Ale with Frozen Beer Slush

We thought that this drink really tasted like liquid gingerbread. There was a strong toffee flavor, and that syrup thickened the drink ever so slightly to give it a sort of thick aftertaste. It wasn’t a slushie by any means, but it drank more like a chilled draught or IPA. It’s served very cold, so it was super refreshing!

Churro Ale with Frozen Beer Slush

The butterscotch flavor was subtle, but it balanced out the gingerbread enough that the drink was definitely not one-note. It added a level of sweetness but wasn’t overpowering.

We thought $17 was a bit expensive, but if you’re a huge fan of churros, you should give this drink a try! It tasted sort of like churros in drink form.

We also grabbed the Garage Brewing Co. Churro Ale for $13. This is another new addition this year!

Churro Ale

This drink was quite a bit smaller, which makes sense with the $13 price tag. Although it’s the cheapest drink on the menu, it doesn’t have the lowest alcohol content at 6.1%, so there’s something to be said there as far as bang for your buck.

The churro flavor in this drink isn’t overpowering, but it’s definitely there. It drinks like a normal ale, and the aftertaste has the churro flavor. Each sip strengthens that flavor as you go. Overall it’s very pleasant and is a fun holiday drink!

Churro Ale

If you don’t like churros, first of all, how dare you. But second of all, this won’t be your favorite drink, so we recommend trying something else on the menu!

There are also a variety of festive beer flights on the menu:

  • Holiday Flight for $18.50 includes Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Mouthful of Miracles Cold IPA, Ballast Point Brewing Co. Grunion Pale Ale, Unsung Brewing Co. Agents of Anaheim Vienna Lager, and Bottle Logic Brewing Co. Study Break Sweet Stout.

OVERALL

Overall, these were both really fun drinks! We liked that they had the unique churro and gingerbread flavors, which make them great for the holiday season. This is definitely not the best booth if you’re hungry (with only one food option), but it’s probably the best choice if you’re just looking for some unique and tasty drinks.
