Disney’s New Animated Film “Wish” Coming Out November 22, 2023

Disney’s latest animated musical fantasy film “Wish” will be released in theaters on November 22, 2023. The film is produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn. Wish tells the story of 17-year-old Asha, voiced by Ariana DeBose, who makes a passionate wish to the stars in the night sky.

Her wish is answered by a fallen star named Star, voiced by Rachel Zegler. Together, Asha and Star must confront the powerful sorcerer King Magnifico, voiced by Chris Pine, who has the ability to grant wishes but rarely does. The music of Wish sets it apart from other recent Disney films, with an original soundtrack written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice. Michaels is the youngest person to have written all the songs for a Disney animated film.

The animation also combines 2D and 3D techniques as an homage to Disney’s long history of animated films. Early reactions to Wish have been somewhat mixed, with critics praising the music and DeBose’s performance but finding the story and themes relatively safe and predictable. Overall, the film aims to honor Disney’s legacy while looking ahead to the future.
