UPDATE: Reedy Creek Fire Department Confirms Evacuation of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Was Due to Chemical Scare, No Injuries Reported

A spokesperson from the Reedy Creek Fire Department confirmed to FOX 35 Orlando that Wednesday morning’s evacuation of part of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was due to a chemical scare.

According to the fire department, an employee was mixing two chemicals that should not have been mixed. The reaction led employees to evacuate the kitchen. Firefighters checked the scene and cleared the incident. Nobody was injured and no guests were affected.

On Wednesday morning, we were not able to exit the resort line of the Walt Disney World Monorail at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Several ambulances, firetrucks, and other emergency vehicles were in the resort’s parking lot. We spoke to guests staying at the Polynesian who said fire alarms went off and they were all escorted out of the resort. Evidently, only some areas were evacuated, but breakfast dining reservations were canceled, and guests arriving at the resort for dining reservations were not admitted.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is open again, and we confirmed that the monorail is again letting guests get off to go into the resort.
