PHOTOS: Trees Removed From Bench Areas Near The Land Pavilion at EPCOT

There’s now one fewer place to escape the central Florida heat at EPCOT, as trees and their surrounding shrubbery have been removed from two raised beds and their coinciding bench areas outside of The Land Pavilion in the World Nature neighborhood of the park.

The two raised beds are located near The Land Pavilion, roughly halfway between the structure and the Imagination! Pavilion. They’re also quite close to the Monorail track.

The concrete beds are bordered by benches that were previously protected from the sun by tall trees. The current lack of protection from sunlight makes them an unappealing place to rest, as evidenced by their availability in these photos.

Each bed is now covered with straw, which is often placed over freshly planted and watered grass to protect the new greenery and allow it to maintain its moisture. The presence of straw perhaps suggests that initial preparations for the ultimate (and potentially impending) return of trees to these beds have already been made.

There are still several shaded resting areas along the walkway connecting The Land Pavilion and the Imagination! Pavilion.

This isn’t the only bit of tree-related news to recently sprout at EPCOT. Four trees along the eastern walkway of the under-construction World Celebration neighborhood were revealed on October 28 after the work walls surrounding the area were pushed back, offering a glimpse at the neighborhood’s flora and themed walkway. We spotted new trees planted in CommuniCore Plaza, an area in the under-construction neighborhood, late last month.

The tree news doesn’t stop growing there. We spotted holiday lights wrapped around the trees and other flora inside the Living With The Land attraction inside The Land Pavilion earlier this week; the ride’s festive overlay will formally debut later this holiday season.

Do you hope to see trees re-added to these beds soon? Let us know in the comments.
