Construction UPDATES Hit Two Magic Kingdom-Area Hotels This Week

There’s always some kind of construction going on in Disney World, whether that be at the parks, hotels, or anywhere in between. This week, we spotted some major updates at two very popular hotels!

Grand Floridian Resort

Both Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are experiencing lots of construction as Disney updates the hotels and adds new things. This week, we stopped by both spots a couple of times to check out the progress.

We stay up to date on all the latest news from Disney World, from huge announcements like new restaurants to the tiniest new pins in the gift shops. To check out all of the latest updates, click on the links below!

Construction Updates at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

There are construction walls all over the Grand Floridian right now.

Luckily, the lobby construction barriers have come down! There were scrims all over the hallways that surround the grand lobby, but those have been removed.

No more scrims!

Scaffolding outside has shifted over to be closer to the front side of the same building…

…and the entrance to the main building is still surrounded by construction walls.

Construction walls around the entrance to Gasparilla Island Grill have also come down.

It looks like this project is moving right along, so we’re hoping to see construction walls disappear entirely soon!

Construction Updates at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The big project at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is of course the HUGE new DVC building that’s under construction right now.

The new DVC villas will be opening in late 2024 and are “inspired by the early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.” The building is right on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon and will bring new recreation offerings and dining to the resort.

When we stopped by to take a look, we noticed that there are now windows in place…

…and Disney appears to be working on the lobby area of this building.

Work on the new building

We’re excited to see it come together and hope that Disney has plans to seriously decorate this building so that it better fits the vibes of Polynesian Village Resort (and looks less like a giant gray box).

Very boxy right now
