Disney World Has BIG Problems … But We’ve Got Solutions

Even us Disney World EXPERTS run into problems from time to time. Hey, we’re not perfect! But there’s one good thing about encountering problems in Disney World: we can pass on the valuable lessons we learned to YOU! You’re welcome.

The truth is Disney World has a few BIG problems. But fear not — we have the solutions.

1. Don’t Fall into the Dreaded Mobile Order Trap

On a busy day (and let’s face it, those days are pretty common), you may find yourself unable to place a mobile order at Disney’s popular quick-service restaurants. Why? Well, there are only a limited number of mobile order time slots available each day, so if the restaurant hits capacity, you might not be able to pick up your food via mobile order.

Mobile Order can come in handy!

Let’s say you were planning to grab lunch around noon at Pecos Bill’s in Magic Kingdom. Well, let’s just say you probably have the same idea as about 500 other families. If you don’t want to stand in a physical line to order your food, we HIGHLY suggest scheduling your mobile order as soon as possible (maybe even first thing in the morning) to guarantee a spot in the mobile order queue.

This doesn’t mean that you have to eat your food first thing in the morning, either. You can select a timeslot for pretty much any time of day (subject to availability, of course).

2. Don’t Lose Hope!

Have you ever tried to snag a popular dining reservation only to find out there aren’t any reservations available? We know the feeling! Well, even if Disney is telling you that there are no reservations left for ‘Ohana, Yak & Yeti, Le Cellier, or any other popular restaurant, you shouldn’t completely give up.

Yak & Yeti

Often, guests will cancel their dining reservations closer to the date of their visit. Keep checking back on the Disney World website for new reservations — you never know when a new time might pop up!

If all else fails, you can always try your luck at a walk-up reservation, too. Sometimes, Disney World restaurants keep a few open spots for walk-up reservations.

3. The Water Problem.

After a long day in the parks, the last thing we feel like doing is walking all the way to our Disney hotel food court for a bottle of water (or a cup of water if you have a resort refillable mug). Plus, for a family of four, four bottles of water from the hotel gift shop are EXPENSIVE! So, how else can you get water at your hotel?

The solution? Don’t rely on Disney! We recommend using a grocery delivery service like Instacart, DoorDash, or Amazon. Buy a case of water bottles ahead of time and have it sent to your hotel. That way, you’ve got plenty of water to drink during your vacation.

4. Impossibly Long Lines.

At the end of the night, EVERYONE goes to the same place: the bus stop. If you find yourself exiting one of the parks near park close, you will probably end up in a VERY long line for the bus.

Unfortunately, there’s no perfect solution here, but if you simply cannot stand in one more line at the end of the day (trust us, we get it), it might be worth it to pay for an Uber, Lyft, or Minnie Van ride back to your room.

5. The Battery Issue.

These days, it’s practically impossible NOT to use your phone throughout the day in Disney World. The My Disney Experience app is sort of a theme park essential at this point, but that app can seriously drain your phone battery.

There’s a charging station in Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom!

Luckily, Disney has a few charging stations scattered around the parks, so be on the lookout for a free outlet next time your battery is looking low! Of course, we also recommend using a portable charger since, you know, it’s portable.

As you can see, there are a LOT of problems that can happen in Disney World, but we know how to navigate even the most challenging issues! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
