7 Things Are Disappearing From Disney World This Week

With a Disney World hotel closing this month, there are a lot of other things going away with it.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcrusier hotel opened in March 2022 and offered guests a completely immersive Star Wars experience. It is now officially closing its doors on September 30th and with that, a lot of unique things will disappear from Disney World.

First off, if you’re going to miss the Galactic Starcruiser as much as we will, you’re going to want our DFB exclusive shirt!

Now, let’s jump into that list!

1. Foaming Face Masks in Hotel Rooms

Foaming Bubble Mask

We were pleasantly surprised to find these foaming face masks in our cabin bathroom on our trip. They come in little individual packages. The consistency of the mask is similar to a gel, but they start to foam after you apply them to your face. It’s a great way to unwind after a busy day of hustling in space! We will definitely miss these.

2. Star Wars Face Paint

While on board the Haylcon, there were a variety of partial or full-face designs available. Face painting, or Image Design, as it was called on the ship, was available for guests ages 7 and older on the Galactic Starcruiser. Taking place right in your cabin, the ship’s “Image Designers” can create an amazing new look. While you can still get your face painted in Disney World, we don’t think it’s to this level and not in your hotel room.

3. Lightsaber Training

Lightsaber training onboard

On the Starcruiser, you were able to go through Lightsaber training. Of course, you can still build your own lightsaber in Galaxy’s Edge, but this training was very unique. You were able to use lightsabers and light to improve your skills. This experience is one that will be missed.

4. Wearing Star Wars Costumes

While you can be in costume at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, aboard the Starcruiser was the only place you could really immerse yourself in Star Wars costuming. Unlike a visit to the Disney Parks, guests onboard the Galactic Starcruiser were able (and even encouraged) to dress in costume. The Chandrila Collection is a “stylish boutique” (aka merchandise store) onboard the starcruiser that featured “galactic attire” including costumes.

5. Blue Shrimp and Other Foods

Blue Felucian Shrimp Cocktail

The blue shrimp comes from the planet Felucia and is a favorite of one of the musical performers on board, Ouannii. This dish caused a lot of controversy. It was fun to try the blue shrimp and it’s a part of our trip that we will never forget. I mean, where else can you eat BLUE SHRIMP?!

There were other unique foods that we will miss including the Meteor Egg. This was basically a Scotch egg, so it was soft-boiled and covered in sausage. There was also a layer of batter around the entire thing, and it was served with Turmeric Aïoli.

6. Star Wars Fashion Show

Outer Rim Regalia Fashion Show

On the evening of the first day, there’s Star Wars Fashion Show. So if you came prepared with a stellar space outfit, it will not be in vain. You would walk the red carpet and even have your photo taken by Photopass for a fee. There is nowhere else in Disney World where you can be in a fashion show.

7. Over-the-Top Immersive Hotel Rooms

A room on Halcyon!

Of course, Disney hotel rooms are themed, but not necessarily to the full extent these rooms were. From the window into space, unique beds, and even the TV being themed, it was a complete experience. This theming was carried out so well in the hotel rooms to keep up the immersive experience.

That’s a wrap on the items that will be disappearing from Disney World soon and we are sad to see them go. Keep following DFB for more Disney news!
