The Most Completely Impractical Disney Popcorn Buckets (But We’re Still Buying Them)

Disney Popcorn Buckets are a WHOLE thing — we would know because we have our fair share of them.

We love seeing all the different popcorn buckets Disney comes out with

We’ve seen some REALLY cool ones, too. Yes, that includes the Figment Popcorn Bucket that everyone lost their minds over. And that EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Popcorn Bucket that looked like a picnic basket. Then there was the Cinderella Carriage Popcorn Bucket that was released for Disney’s 100th Anniversary. Here’s the thing. Many of the popcorn buckets are very cool, but they’re not very functional — that won’t stop us from buying them, though!

So let’s take a look at popcorn buckets that were kinda’ useless, but we still HAD to have them anyway. We know our fellow popcorn bucket fans understand!

Mr. Toad Popcorn Bucket

Okay, first, we didn’t care if the Mr. Toad Popcorn Bucket we saw last year was useful or not because it was MR. TOAD. Considering that Disney World no longer has a Mr. Toad attraction (at least Disneyland still does), we’re going to scoop up anything Mr. Toad-related.

Still, this is more home decor than an actual popcorn bucket. The popcorn goes into the truck of Mr. Toad’s vehicle, and it’s just not a great vessel for holding popcorn.

Popcorn inside!

Again, though, we don’t care — this popcorn bucket was EVERYTHING when it was released. We know we’re not alone in thinking this because when this popcorn bucket came out, the lines were HUGE.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Mayor’s Car Popcorn Bucket

When Disney announced ON THE DAY of the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party that there would be an exclusive Nightmare Before Christmas Car Popcorn Bucket, we rearranged our plans for the evening just to get our hands on it. Who cares if it isn’t actually super practical?

Not actually a popcorn bucket, but WE STILL BOUGHT IT

Yep, that’s right, the popcorn bucket just has a spot on top that holds a small box or bag of popcorn. So it’s not really a popcorn bucket at all (more of a bucket for your other popcorn bucket), but hey, that’s just semantics.

Mickey Train Popcorn Bucket

Let’s head on over to the West Coast, where we found the Mickey Train Popcorn Bucket, which was designed the same way as the Nightmare Before Christmas One. It’s NOT a popcorn bucket, but a popcorn box holder, but again, we won’t argue with Disney on this one. Still, we can’t use either of these for popcorn at home, but we didn’t buy them for that anyway.

Mickey Train

Why? Because this was one of the coolest popcorn buckets we’d seen in a while. It’s probably one of the most DISNEY popcorn buckets ever, too, because it showcases Walt’s love for trains.

Zero Popcorn Bucket

At least the Zero Light-Up Popcorn Bucket has a small compartment for popcorn, but it’s still not very useful if you’re just wanting something to hold your popcorn in at home while you’re watching your favorite movie on Disney+. Who cares, though, when it looks like this?

Zero Popcorn Bucket

And, as we said, it even lights up, so this is more a fun Halloween/Christmas decoration than a popcorn bucket.

Pumbaa Popcorn Bucket

The Pumbaa Popcorn Bucket was a MUST-BUY when it first came out. Just LOOK AT HIM. The Simba popcorn bucket has been around Disney’s Animal Kingdom FOREVER, so Pumbaa was a breath of fresh air (unless you stand downwind of him…or at least that’s what Timon says).

Well, Pumbaa has a little problem. Our reporter mentioned that his legs kept falling off! 😲 Reportedly, folks were accidentally dropping him and his little legs were flying everywhere. Poor Pumbaa! Still, he’s sitting on our mantle and we have no regrets. Hakuna Matata!

Millennium Falcon Popcorn Bucket

The Millennium Falcon is cool. The Millennium Falcon Popcorn Bucket is cool. It’s also kinda’ flat in shape, which means it looks like there isn’t even a place ON IT to put the popcorn. But, hey, was it meant to do that anyway?

Millennium Falcon Popcorn Bucket

Anyway, you CAN put popcorn in it, but it’s awkward. Part of the top pops open like a little door and you can put a TEENY bit of popcorn inside it, but really, would anyone do that? We’ll just hang on to the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy that says it’s a popcorn bucket when it isn’t.

Seriously, though, does anyone grab one of these popcorn buckets, take it home, and actually use it for popcorn? It’s a collectible, and that’s something Disney knows very well, which means Disney is going to keep on making them, practical or not. And here’s the thing — we’ll probably keep on buying them. 😂
