So, About Disney World’s New Churros…We Have Good News and Bad News

We’ve tried some UNUSUAL snacks in Disney World over the years.

Disney Springs

From treats that didn’t turn out exactly like their picture-perfect marketing promised to eats with some really weird flavors and ingredient choices, we don’t shy away from being brave during our food reviews. But the latest unique treat we tried didn’t take much bravery at all…because honestly, it sounded like a really good idea!

We recently headed to Disney Springs to try out the new Churro Pops from Sunshine Churros. These sweet treats are (you guessed it!) churros in the shape of lollipops on a stick. They’re $8.95 each and come in Sprinkles, Hot Fudge, and Maple Bacon flavors. They sound absolutely delicious, but do they live up to that hype?

New churro pops!

We tried two different flavors — the Maple Bacon and the Sprinkles. To start, the Maple Bacon is made with cinnamon sugar, maple syrup drizzle, bacon bits, and chopped walnuts on top. The description sounded pretty good, but it came out looking…not quite as appetizing.

Hot Fudge Churro Pop

It’s definitely very brown, and kinda lumpy. It was also incredibly difficult to keep on the stick while we took photos! However, the taste MORE than made up for the looks. The churros are fried fresh when you order and that meant this treat was hot and crispy and the maple flavors kinda made it all taste like a cinnamon roll.

That thing is LOADED with toppings.

It was MESSY though, but in a good way. The touch of bacon balanced out the sweet cinnamon sugar, and the maple syrup made it all gooey and delicious. If you love the sweet and savory combo, this is ABSOLUTELY for you. Just don’t expect to eat it like an actual pop because it’s a little too heavy for that.

Inside the Maple Bacon

Next up we’ve got the Sprinkles Churro Pop. This one is a simple combination of strawberry frosting and rainbow sprinkles. A much prettier treat to photograph!

It’s very pink!

However, it’s a little more of “all style and no substance,” if you ask us. The churro itself was nice and fresh, but it didn’t have the help from the maple syrup to make it extra tasty. We also didn’t love the icing — it was sugary and overwhelming.

Not quite as delicious…

Seriously, that icing was sickeningly sweet and had a VERY fake strawberry taste to it. Kids or people who really love sugar might enjoy it, but if you’re going to try one of these pops, we definitely recommend the Maple Bacon instead.

A little bit of a letdown here.

All in all, we would order that Maple Bacon pop again! And we’re interested to hear what you think if you stop by to try out these sweets. They’re a little on the pricier side for snacks, but would it really be a Disney trip without a churro? That’s up to you to decide!
