Infrastructure is underway for the upcoming nighttime spectacular at EPCOT, and an aerial look from photographer bioreconstruct shows the construction of new barges.
In the photo above, bioreconstruct has labeled four areas as follows:
- 1: New barges in the marina
- 2: Collection of square platforms
- 3: Staging area of parts, possible assembly area
- 4: Suspension for red crane, to lift large items
Guests who detested the large Harmonious barges may be concerned about new obstructions to World Showcase Lagoon, but the images show the relative size.
In the photo below, the Harmonious “taco” and “stargate” barges are pictured in the same place that the new barges are parked now. Using the surroundings and the red crane for scale, the new barges are significantly smaller.
A closeup of the new barges show motors on the end. It’s unknown if the barges will be parked permanently like the Harmonious ones or if they will travel back and forth nightly.
The new show was supposed to debut for the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration at EPCOT, which kicks off on September 22. The spectacular was notably missing from the announcement lineup, but may still arrive during the celebration even if it isn’t ready for the start.
Currently, EPCOT Forever is performing each evening.
