It’s showtime! “Rogers: The Musical” has premiered at Hollywood Land’s Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure. While it was performed in a preview yesterday for media and select D23 Gold Members, today was the debut for the general public. The new one-act musical is inspired by the fake Broadway show seen in “Hawkeye” on Disney+.

To see the show, guests can purchase the Premium Viewing Experience, join a virtual queue, or try for standby. The virtual queue is not required but recommended. The Premium Viewing Experience is $29 and has very limited space — it sold out within an hour of becoming available on opening day.

Audio plays, seemingly from a retro radio onstage, while guests take their seats. The audio includes a musical commercial for Elias & Co., a store in Disney California Adventure named after Walter Elias Disney and his father.

The radio station is KBVS for Buena Vista Street (K is assigned to commercial radio stations west of the Mississippi River).

A safety announcement 10 minutes before the show includes the sentence, “The stars are out tonight, amid the glitz and glitter of this bustling young movie town, and they’ve gathered right here at the Hyperion Theater, a beacon for the show business elite.” Parts of this line are lifted right from the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror pre-show. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was previously part of Hollywood Land, not far from Hyperion Theater, but was re-done to become Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, now part of Avengers Campus.

The show is hosted by the “monarchs of melody,” the Starkettes.

The show starts with a big opening number that introduces the man of the hour, Steve Rogers, and sets the stage for his story to come.

The Starkettes take on minor roles in the show, like nurses.

The billboards of New York City are full of Easter eggs, like Stan’s Heroes deli and World Exposition of Tomorrow.

The show eventually sees Steve in his old age, pulled right from the end of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series on Disney+.

In honor of “Rogers: The Musical,” Disney California Adventure has a new guidemap. There is also a small collection of “Rogers”-branded merchandise. A “Rogers: The Musical” photo op is available by Hollywood Lounge.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening next year in Disney World and Disneyland, and we’ve gotten some pretty major updates on the attraction recently!

We learned more about the music for the ride, saw the water tower go up in front, and heard details about the animatronics. Now, Disney has revealed another Tiana-themed update!

At the ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans, Disney showed off Tiana’s NEW look!

We’ve seen this outfit in concept art for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure already, but this is our first time seeing it come to life.

It looks like this new outfit might be part of a new Princess Tiana meet-and-greet in the parks, but Disney didn’t confirm that. You can still meet Princess Tiana in Magic Kingdom over at Princess Fairytale Hall, but in Fantasyland, she’s wearing her ballgown instead of this adventurer’s outfit.

We can’t wait to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens in Disney World and Disneyland in late 2024!

And don’t forget that Disneyland is also getting a NEW Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant, called Tiana’s Palace.

Could a similar restaurant be coming to Disney World too?? Disney hasn’t said anything yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed!

It’s clear that Disney still isn’t quite ready to let it go because an all-new Frozen-themed land is coming!

World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland will be home to the first-ever Frozen-themed coaster, Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs. The ride was “built” by Wandering Oaken himself and is powered with the help of Olaf and Sven. And, Disney Imagineering just shared a NEW look at the ride queue!

Disney is opening the new World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland in November 2023! The new land is based on animation styles from Disney’s Frozen films — and it will be like stepping into a Summer Snow Day celebration commemorating when Anna saved Elsa with an act of true love.

We’ve been keeping up with the updates Disney has shared, and recently got a look at some new concept art. But now, Disney Imagineering has shared a peek at the queue for Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs! We can see some spaces in the area you might recognize from the Frozen movies, including Oaken’s Trading Post.

You can also see a sauna in the video, along with lots of other nods to Frozen and the characters we know and love.

Just in time for the release of his latest feature film adventure, Indiana Jones is now making appearances at Disneyland park for a limited time.

Indiana Jones Meet and Greet

While Indy doesn’t have a set meet and greet location, guests can find him roaming around Adventureland throughout the day. He also occasionally goes into the queue of Indiana Jones Adventure to mingle with guests.

When we found Indy, he had a notebook and a tapestry with him, trying to examine both for clues and enlisting guests’ help to decipher them.

He also joked about feeling as though he was teaching a lecture, because so many guests were just staring at him and not saying anything.

For the meet and greet, Indiana is dressed in his traditional adventurer garb, complete with his iconic whip and a satchel for carrying everything an archaeologist could need when out in the field.

You can also find the famous adventurer roaming and hanging out above the Jungle Cruise queue.

An end date for encountering Indiana Jones in Adventureland has yet to be announced. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates.

“Rogers: The Musical” has opened at Disney California Adventure and we purchased the Premium Viewing Experience for our first showing.

Rogers: The Musical Premium Viewing Experience – $29

The package includes the “Rogers: The Musical” popcorn bucket with kettle corn, choice of bottled beverage, access to lounge seating before the show, priority choice of seating in the theater, a souvenir lanyard, and priority access to a unique photo opportunity.

It’s available for purchase at Hollywood Lounge and sold out for all show times within an hour of the park opening today.

“Rogers: The Musical” will have performances on most days from now through August 31, 2023. Show times are at 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.

After purchasing a package, guests receive a souvenir lanyard, plus a paper wristband.

The wristband states the performance date and number.

If the experience is sold out, there will be signs up at Hollywood Lounge.

Premium Viewing guests can check in behind Hollywood Lounge up to 90 minutes before their show time. They then get their photo taken at the “Rogers: The Musical” photo op.

Guests then collect their popcorn bucket (with kettle corn) and soda from this cart.

The bucket comes with red, white, and blue kettle corn pre-loaded in a plastic bag.

The kettle corn and popcorn bucket are also available to purchase separately from the Premium Viewing Experience.

Guests are then invited to wait in an exclusive outdoor lounge area.

There are chairs and tables and umbrellas providing shade.

Guests are free to come and go from the seating area as they please.

There’s a cart with “Rogers: The Musical” merchandise within the seating area.

Premium Viewing Experience guests are let into the theater about 30 minutes before the show starts.

There isn’t specific reserved seating inside the theater, but Premium Viewing Experience Guests have their pick of seats, so we were in the second row.

There was still plenty of seating left for virtual queue guests, who are let in after Premium Viewing Experience guests.

Here is an official description of this new musical experience:

Exploring universal themes of heroism, romance and self-discovery, “Rogers: The Musical” is an exhilarating and heartfelt experience for Super Hero fans, theater enthusiasts and families alike. Avengers aficionados will appreciate creative interpretations of iconic objects and moments from Steve’s journey, while theater fans will love the eclectic array of musical styles in the score and the show’s original choreography.

“Rogers: The Musical” at Disney California Adventure park is inspired by the fictional Broadway musical theater sequence featured in the first episode of the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” This new musical project will come to life through the creativity of Disney Live Entertainment in partnership with book writer Hunter Bell, star and book writer of the Tony Award-nominated “[title of show],” and will feature five all-new songs with music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Lennertz and lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Christopher Lennertz and Alex Karukas. Plus, fan-favorites songs “Save The City” from the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” (written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), and “Star Spangled Man” from the film “Captain America: The First Avenger” (written by Alan Menken and David Zippel).

Rogers: The Musical Virtual Queue

“Rogers: The Musical” will be performed several times per day, Tuesday through Saturday, most weeks from June 30 through August 31, 2023. A virtual queue system will be available in the Disneyland app. Joining the virtual queue is not required, but is highly recommended for guests who don’t purchase the Premium Viewing Experience, similar to “World of Color – ONE.”

Each day that the show is being performed, distribution for the complimentary virtual queue will begin at 10:30 a.m. PT for the first two show times of the day and 2:00 p.m. PT for the remaining show times of the day. Guests won’t be able to choose their showtime. They will be called back to the Hyperion Theater when the physical queue is ready to open, approximately 30-45 minutes before the show.

How-to details on the virtual queue system are available at Disneyland.com. If the virtual queue reaches capacity, you can check in at the Hyperion Theater before “Rogers: The Musical” begins for walk-up viewing options.
