After a long day of work, school, or even a trip to Disney World — sometimes you’re just really craving some chicky nugs and french fries from McDonald’s (just us?!).

No matter what your go-to order might be, sometimes it’s nice to live a little and shake things up a bit. Folks itchin’ for something new are in for a treat, because new menu items are coming to McDonald’s soon!

McDonald’s is celebrating an iconic character’s birthday — Grimace! And of course, there’s only one way to celebrate a giant purple… whatever he is, with new food! Beginning June 12th, you can order the Grimace Birthday Meal, which features a limited-edition purple shake inspired by his “iconic color and sweetness.”

The meal comes with your choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, and World Famous Fries. According to Today, the Grimace Shake is made with vanilla soft serve and berry flavors.

Not only that, but McDonald’s will be launching a video game in collaboration with Krool Toys, where you can put yourself in Grimace’s world featuring characters like Birdie and Hamburglar too. It will be available and free to play on mobile and desktop on June 12th.

You’ll also be able to shop Grimace-inspired merch on the McDonald’s store website. And, from June 13th to 14th, you can visit the McDonald’s Instagram story and share a photo of your “favorite birthday memory via the “add yours” sticker. For every picture shared, they’ll donate $5 to Ronald McDonald House Charities — up to $200k.

So, just who (and what) is Grimace? McDonald’s shared a bit of background about the purple… dude in the press release:

“Grimace is from Grimace Island and comes from a huge family (including his Grandma Winky, aunts Millie and Tillie and his Uncle O’Grimacey!) Our timeless bestie has become a fan-favorite known for his signature fuzzy purple look, friendly and playful personality, love for shakes, and of course – ambiguous nature. What exactly is Grimace? Perhaps we’ll never know…”

While we may never know what Grimace is, we know we’ll be heading to McDonald’s to scoop this meal and shake up ASAP. From fast food to Disney food, we’ll be covering it all — so stay tuned to DFB for more!
