DON’T PANIC If You See This Ridiculously Long Line in Disney World

The lines in Disney World can be SHOCKING, and one line, in particular, has been strange lately.

Magic Kingdom

After a Memorial Day weekend in 2023 that wasn’t nearly as crowded as you might have expected, we saw some surprising crowds hit Disney World. And with the crowds came some longer lines. One line has really surprised us recently, and it might catch you off guard too, which is why we’re telling you all about it right now.

If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, there’s a good chance you might make a stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center. If you drive your car to Magic Kingdom, you’ll park in the parking lot for the Transportation and Ticket Center and then have to go through security there.

Transportation and Ticket Center

Once through security, you’ll be able to hop on a Monorail or boat (generally) to Magic Kingdom. The Transportation and Ticket Center also features monorail access to EPCOT as well as other spots. Given its importance to the organization of transportation around Disney World, perhaps it comes as no surprise that this place can get BUSY. But the lines here lately have been SHOCKING.

Monorail Line June 4th

On May 31st, 2023, we saw some extremely long lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center. That was the first date of some exciting Annual Passholder perks in EPCOT, so that may have factored into the crowds. Interestingly, though the security line was long, we didn’t have to wait for more than a few minutes before we were through that space and in the Monorail line.

Over the weekend that followed, the lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center eased a bit, so we thought those crowds were behind us…but we were WRONG.

Transportation and Ticket Center

On the morning of Monday, June 5th, the security line at the Transportation and Ticket Center went ALL the way back into the parking lot. One of our reporters shared that this was the LONGEST they’d ever seen this line get.

Oh No

Our reporter also shared that while this area might not have needed to have all of its security stations open in the past, Disney opened them all on this date to get all of those people in line through security as swiftly as possible.

That’s a Lot of People

But, here’s the thing about these long security lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center — as we mentioned before, they can often go really fast. So while you might take a first glance at this line and think “We’ll be here for HOURS!” that hasn’t been the case in our experience.

Things Can Be Deceiving

In fact, on June 5th, it took us only about 8 minutes to get through security. Before we knew it, we were through to the main space with the option to hop on the Ferryboat…

Not Always That Bad!

…or Monorail.

Monorail Lines

That doesn’t always mean that the line will move that fast. There can be delays and you should mentally prepare for those, but in our experience, some of these longer security lines can be deceiving, so don’t go into a full panic if you happen to find yourself in one.

Another tip is to make sure you leave your hotel EARLY to give yourself more than enough time to get through whatever lines you may encounter. It’s better to show up at the park extra early than run late and get extremely stressed out when you face a long line. Give yourself some peace of mind by leaving your room extra early when possible to avoid potential headaches.
