From announcements for the theme parks to movie premieres and updates about Disney+, there’s no shortage of things happening with The Walt Disney Company. And recently, at the Annecy Festival, Disney shared some big updates that we wanted to pass along!

Want to know all about the latest animation news and animation studios news? The Annecy Festival was the place to be! During the 2023 Annecy Festival, Disney made quite a few announcements about upcoming programs and projects, and we’ve rounded them all up here!

First of all, a new series called StuGo has been greenlit by Disney Branded Television. According to Disney, it’s created by Ryan Gillis and “follows six over-ambitious middle schoolers who get tricked into attending a fake academic summer camp by a mad scientist & find themselves stuck on a wild tropical island with mind-reading manatees, giant fighting fungi, & fashion-forward mutants.”

As part of Disney’s 100th anniversary, a new short film called Mickey Mouse: Steamboat Silly will premiere globally July 28th on Disney+.

If you loved the Zombies Disney movies, then you’ll be happy to know that a new TV series is coming soon! Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly will reprise their roles as Zed and Addison in ZOMBIES: The Re-Animated Series along with its companion shorts.

The upcoming Disney series Disney Primos has found its cast, which includes the following characters:

  • Myrna Velasco as Tater Ramirez Humphrey
  • Melissa Villaseñor as Tater’s younger sister, Nellie Ramirez Humphrey
  • Michelle Ortiz as Tater’s mom, Bibi Ramirez Humphrey
  • Jim Conroy as voices Tater’s dad, Bud Humphrey.

Additionally, Disney released the main title for the series! Watch it below.

Disney shared a first look at Playdate with Winnie the Pooh during the festival, which is a series of musical shorts that focus on a young Winnie the Pooh. The shorts will be released this summer in the U.S.

Disney Junior is getting a new series of shorts called The Wonderful World of Songs, which will be reimagined versions of classic Disney hits.

If you’re a fan of the live-action The Little Mermaid, then we have big news! Disney Junior has announced a new series called Ariel, which is designed for preschoolers. It’s set for a 2024 release and features characters from the movie, as well as new additions. The show follows an 8-year-old Ariel on her adventures.

According to Variety, Disney also revealed that a new series called Magicampers was greenlit. The show will be a pre-school adventure series.
