PHOTOS, VIDEO: Rethemed Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster Opens at Disneyland

All aboard! After the reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland was announced, we learned that Gadget’s Go-Coaster would be transformed and rethemed into Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster, to appeal to more modern audiences. Now that Mickey’s Toontown is open to guests, we finally got to ride this updated version.

You can check out our POV using the video above, or keep reading for photos and descriptions.

Located at the back of Mickey’s Toontown, Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster is in the back of Mickey’s Toontown, between Mickey’s House and Donald’s Duck Pond.

Already on the way in, we can see the new static figures of Chip ‘n’ Dale trying to spit into a teacup, which bears a strong resemblance to the Mad Tea Party teacups.

Entering the queue, we’re already somewhat shaded by a giant “beach” banner.

Little doo-dads and other assorted items still dot the queue, like the comb still acting as a bridge rail.

From the queue we can also see the hand cranking the motor which lifts guests up the hill.

The vehicles still look the same as when they were Gadget’s Go Coaster — yellow white green backs and red button wheels.

An acorn sits atop the load area’s entrance.

Inside it still looks like a chaotic workshop just like before. Tools hang from the walls and sit on shelves, and a blueprint hangs behind the eraser-shaped dispatch station.

The key difference is a Rescue Rangers insignia above the exit, recalling the 1989-90 Disney Afternoon series which also got a movie last year.

A portrait of Gadget, the coaster’s former namesake, is near the back side of the load-unload station. Behind it is a blueprint for the acorn-shaped ride vehicles.

Boarding locations are defined by acorns.

Dominos also serve as the safety gates.

A new static figure of Gadget sits next to the lift hill, showing how guests will soon tumble down the coaster.

Finally on the way out, we see Gadget’s mailbox, but none for Chip and Dale.
