Don’t Ride Disney World’s TRON Coaster Without These Critical Details

Can you believe it’s almost time for TRON to debut?!

TRON

TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens in Magic Kingdom on April 4th, 2023, but Disney is hosting previews for select groups of people. We’ve seen teaser after teaser and we’ve been watching the construction for years, but it is TIME — we got to ride TRON!

The unique seating on this ride has been a concern for many Disney fans wanting to go on the coaster. However, TRON Lightcycle / Run has adaptive seating and we are here to answer the BIG questions about it!

What are the seats like?

The regular TRON Lightcycle / Run seats are like sitting on a motorcycle, most similar to Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, there is also an adaptive seating option for guests who may not be able to fit into the standard ride seats or have a disability that prevents them from comfortably riding in that style of seat.

TRON Testing

We got a look at the ride vehicles from riding the PeopleMover before, and now we got a close-up look at the seats. These adaptive ride vehicles are standard seats with a lap bar that comes down.

Empty adaptive seating

A test seat is located right before you enter the queue. We suggest you try it out if you have any concerns so that you’re prepared when you get to the actual ride vehicle. That way you can ask a Cast Member for an adaptive seat if you need it. The test seat doesn’t lock like the actual ride vehicle will, so there may be a few differences when you’re getting on the ride — you know yourself best so if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t be afraid to request the alternate seats.

Here’s a closer look at the leg restraints. The most restrictive part based on our experience is that little metal bar that comes over your leg.

We thought that these seats actually felt a bit different than those on Flight of Passage, mainly because with TRON you’re being thrust forward on the coaster. It wasn’t super uncomfortable, but that might be because it’s a short ride. Leaning forward this way could potentially feel a little stiff after a while.

How do you request these seats?

Since there is only one row of these adaptive seats and not every train has one — you may be wondering “how do you request these seats?” Well, we found out!

When you are near the front of the queue, simply tell the Cast Member if you need adaptive seating. The Cast Member will take you aside so you can wait for a train with this style of seating. Since not every train has it, you might have to wait a little longer. There is not a separate line for these seats, so asking a Cast Member is essential.
