VIDEOS: Go INSIDE Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland With Us!

We’re only a few days away from the official opening of a new ride in Disneyland!

Model of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

We’re talking about Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which will open on January 27th! But we got to attend a press event to get a first look at the ride, and we’re taking YOU along with us! So hop onboard and get ready for that runaway train!

Location

You’ll find Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Mickey’s Toontown, which is getting a huge upgrade and won’t officially reopen until March 8th.

We’ve been on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney World, so we’ll be comparing the two attractions. First, the building is different — it’s the El Capitoon Theater (a take on Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in L.A.).

The El Capitoon Theatre

In Disney World, the Chinese Theater is the building that houses the attraction, but in Disneyland, a NEW theater was built to house it.

Queue

There is a Standby Entry — remember that you will need to use a virtual queue to get on this attraction…

…unless you buy the Individual Lightning Lane option.

Lightning Lane Entrance

Once you step inside, the queue will show you some fun Disney character-themed movie posters.

These are fun!

It sort of reminds us of the posters you can see in Red Carpet Dreams at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But these movie posters switch things up by including some unique Disney takes on popular films! (We’ll be sharing a FULL post on the easter eggs in this ride soon, so stay tuned!)

We kinda’ wish this were a real movie

Oh, look, this is what the ride is about: Mickey and Minnie’s perfect picnic (that goes awry, thanks to a runaway train driven by Goofy).

Perfect Picnic? Maybe not!

You’ll also find some “memorabilia” on display for the theater.

Memorabilia wall

Don’t eat the hot dog!

Don’t eat that!

Don’t forget — it all started with a mouse.

The queue also has “props” from classic Mickey cartoons, like Steamboat Willie.

REAL props, y’all.

Get a look at the “Mickey Through the Ears” exhibit!

Which look is your favorite?

Even the famous TOODLES is here!

You can even get a look at the “actual” book Mickey used in Fantasia’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

Ooh!

All this “memorabilia” really takes you into the world of cartoons, which is the idea behind this ride.

LOVE it

There’s even a little “Concessions” area — just like theaters in our world.

Another thing we wish was real!

When it was time to ride the attraction, a Cast Member showed us the way.

Right this way

Just like its Florida counterpart, this Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride has a pre-show that takes you into the story.

The pre-show sets up the story

Anyone else got “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” stuck in their heads?!

Ride

Then it’s onto the ride! The loading area looks similar to the ride in Disney World.

Queue area

As a reminder, the ride system here is trackless. The scenes are familiar to the ones in the Disney World version of the ride…

There they are!

…and there are ALL kinds of easter eggs to look for.

And we’re off on an adventure in a cartoon!

We’ll be covering more about Mickey & Minnie’s Runway Railway in Disneyland soon, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!
