See How One Disney Castle Has Changed for the 100th Anniversary

We are only a couple days away from the official kickoff of the Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary celebrations!

And Disneyland is getting all dressed up for the festivities. We’ve already seen touches of decor in the parks, heard about the new snacks, and seen clips of the new nighttime shows. But now we have even MORE details to share about the 100th celebration!

The 100 Years of Wonder celebration features heavy use of platinum with accents of royal blue. These colors have been popping up all around Disneyland in the form of new park decorations. Plenty of banners are up, accented with “100 Years of Wonder” medallions.

Speaking of medallions, these medallions have been appearing around the park too! Similar to the interactive 50th statues in Disney World, certain medallions (and statues) will interact with your MagicBand+ in Disneyland.

We also spotted a Mickey Mouse statue in Disneyland park! The base includes the all-important phrase: “It all started with a mouse.”

Interestingly, this quote seems to be just slightly off from the original. According to D23, the full quote from Walt Disney is “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse.” That full quote (with the “was” and “by”) is featured in Disneyland’s version of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Other 100th Anniversary banners grace the facades of buildings around the park.

Shiny banners!

However, the piece de resistance is Sleeping Beauty Castle! The centerpiece of Disneyland has been adorned with 100th Anniversary decorations. Royal blue banners with shiny platinum stars line the pathway up to the castle gate.

She’s all dressed up!

As we got closer, we could see how much detail went into the new castle design. A massive platinum wishing star is now situated atop the center of the castle, while additional banners hang from the side towers.

What do you think of the decorations?

Taking a closer look at that centerpiece, we can see that Aurora’s friends Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather are holding up the banner! In the center is a hammered platinum shield with the 100 Years of Wonder logo front and center.

A video really is the best way to get the full effect of the new decorations (oh and the fountains are running too!).
