Don’t Forget This CRUCIAL Detail About the TRON Coaster in Disney World

The opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run is right around the corner!

TRON Sign

TRON officially opens on April 4th, and we recently found out tons of new information about the attraction. The ride will use Virtual Queue and Individual Lightning Lane, offer complimentary lockers for guests, and provide adaptive seating to those not comfortable using the bicycle seats. Now, we know even more about the important details of this ride: the minimum height requirement!

According to Disney, the minimum height requirement for TRON Lightcycle / Run will be 48″ (122cm).

©Disney

In comparison, many of Disney’s mid-level rides have a 40″ height requirement, like Dinosaur, Soarin’ Around the World, and Test Track, while some of the more intense rides have a 44″ height requirement, like Avatar: Flight of Passage and Space Mountain.

Testing the adaptive seating

The only other ride in the 4 Disney World theme parks that requires a height of 48″ is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, so this will be a bit stricter than most of the other rides at Disney.

TRON Lightcycle Run Billboard

Disney bases these height requirements on a number of factors, such as the ride vehicle and restraints, and they are an important part of keeping guests safe. Don’t forget you can have a Cast Member check your child’s height when you enter the park so that you know what they’ll be tall enough to ride throughout the day!

Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news!

What’s Going On With Disney’s Major Move To Florida?

We are in the midst of an unprecedented period of change within the Disney company. Just in the past year alone, we witnessed a dramatic CEO shakeup, the closure of a popular Magic Kingdom attraction, and currently we are preparing for the beginning of the official 100th Anniversary celebrations for the Walt Disney Company.

Orlando is preparing to welcome a LOT of new residents in the coming years

Disney is certainly sticking to their motto to “keep moving forward!” The Lake Nona project that started gaining traction in 2021 has just hit some important milestones, so we’re going to take a look at what’s in store for both the region and the Disney employees impacted by the relocation.

In early 2021, Disney hinted at plans to create a commercial and residential community in Lake Nona, an Orlando, Florida, neighborhood, for certain divisions of employees. The same summer, a press release stated Disney had purchased land for what they are calling a “regional campus” for their Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products team members. Since then we hadn’t heard much regarding the project, but recent developments have given us a clearer picture of what exactly the Lake Nona project will look like for both Disney employees and current Orlando residents.

The Orlando Business Journal reported that City of Orlando records show Disney is searching for a specific parcel master plan “for the development of an approximately 1.8 million-square-foot office complex with office and flex space within the Lake Nona PD, Parcel 20A.” It appears that the original timeline for the project has been lengthened; back in July of 2021, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, estimated the move would take place within the following 18 months. Later, a Disney spokesperson stated their new anticipated completion date is sometime in 2026.

Disney is hoping this new timeline will accommodate their employees as they relocate from California to central Florida. Plus, it will give them ample time to complete all of their construction projects, which are pretty ambitious. Plans filed with the city call for 1.8 million square feet of office space. On the north side of Lake Nona Boulevard will be six office buildings, two flex buildings, three parking garages, and a central plant. They are aiming to stick to a “strong open space element” according to a memo on the plans, and site plans reveal a network of walkways as well as open areas for employees and visitors.

When finished, the plan is for all of the buildings to face a central park with pedestrian walkways between each of the buildings. These plans also revealed the project team and firms that will be creating the new Lake Nona Campus. Orlando-based Harris Civil Engineers LLC will be working alongside Langan Engineering, Inc. and HOK, an architect firm known for its innovative and collaboration-focused office designs. They’ve created campuses for companies like LG and Honeywell and are known for their sustainable designs, so we are eager to see what they have planned for Lake Nona.

Construction and opening will be phased to allow for Disney employees to relocate on their own timeline. The company anticipates adding 2,000 employees to this new Florida campus. With these recent plans we are anticipating more updates on the Lake Nona campus, and you can always count on DFB for bringing you the latest!

REVIEW: Disney’s SWEET New Drinks Are Basically Dessert

Let’s be real — one of the best parts of being a grown-up at Disney is the wide array of delicious and fun drinks.

Have a drink at Hollywood Lounge!

In celebration of 100 Years of the Walt Disney Company, all sorts of yummy snacks and treats are popping up in the parks. In true Disney fashion, they’ve included some adult beverages in the new Disney100 treat lineup. While you can find alcoholic drinks throughout the parks, for now, we’re going to talk about the new Disney100 beverages at Hollywood Lounge in Disney California Adventure — because there are options here for the whole family!

Although Hollywood Lounge specializes in alcoholic beverages, this spot can be fun for the whole family, since they have nonalcoholic versions of the drinks for the kiddos as well.

Updated menu

Without further ado, here are the Disney100 drinks you can treat yourselves to at Hollywood Lounge!

Platinum Blue

This sour blue beverage features a rum base with blue curaçao, DOLE pineapple, and sour mix.

Looks tasty!

You can grab this drink for $16. We really enjoyed this drink and recommend it to anyone who loves pineapple or fruity cocktails. It almost reminded us of a mai tai with the tart pineapple and the sweetness of the curaçao. We couldn’t really taste the alcohol in this one, so if you’re looking for a more alcohol-forward drink, you might want to skip this.

Old Fashioned Cream Soda

This drink is a great choice if you’re looking for a nonalcoholic beverage! This twist on a classic diner beverage has a Sprite base mixed with cherry flavoring and blue cotton candy gourmet syrup. It’s served frozen and topped with whipped cream and purple pixie dust!

All that whipped cream looks yummy!

This yummy drink is $6.49. This is a VERY sweet drink! If you have a sweet tooth, this is perfect for you. It might be a little too sweet for others, depending on what you prefer. We first tasted the Sprite, followed by the sweet cherry and all the whipped cream. We couldn’t really pick out a distinct cotton candy taste — but that’s probably because the drink is so sweet in general.

Having a refreshing drink is a great way to hang out and celebrate with friends and family, and we hope these drinks get you in the mood to celebrate a whole century of Disney! Be sure to follow along, because we’re bringing you all the latest Disney100 news and updates.

We Bet You Didn’t Know This Magic Kingdom HACK

When it comes to visiting Disney World, planning ahead might be the best advice we can give!

Cinderella Castle

Things are always changing in the parks and resorts, and no two days are alike. We keep up with all the changes so you don’t have to, and we recently shared that you might want to avoid Magic Kingdom today as it’s closing early — but there’s actually a reason you might WANT to visit Magic Kingdom today!

Heads up if you’re planning on heading to Magic Kingdom today — the park will be closing EARLY at 4:30PM!

Magic Kingdom

Disney will sometimes close parks early for Cast Member or private events, and it can really mess up your plans if you’re not prepared for it! But, there may be an advantage to Disney closing its parks earlier than normal

Haunted Mansion line

lower wait times! Seriously, just take a look at what we’re seeing for wait times in Magic Kingdom today.

©Disney

Yes, you read that correctly — a 10 minute wait for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is essentially just a walk-on!) And you’ll have to wait a short yet spooky 13 minutes for Haunted Mansion.

©Disney

At one point, the highest wait time listed was just 35 minutes — for the ever-popular Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!

©Disney

So, it looks like there may still be advantages to visiting a Disney World park on a day it’s closing early. If you’ve got a park hopper ticket, you could always start your day in the park that’s set to close and finish your day in another one that might be open later. And, keep in mind, this hack only works if you don’t plan on staying late in Magic Kingdom and don’t really care about catching the fireworks!

Either way, it’s important to check the Disney World calendar for updates before you plan your trip and as it approaches.

Disney World

We’ll continue to keep up with wait times and crowds in Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest.

NEW Ears in Disney World Are Meant for an EXCLUSIVE Group of People

We love celebrating special occasions at Disney World, and what better way to celebrate than with a new pair of Mickey or Minnie ears?

Who doesn’t love celebrating at Disney?

Disney is forever tempting us to add to our ear collection (they’ve already released 10 new pairs in 20223)! And with ears celebrating events from Lunar New Year to the 100th anniversary, there’s no shortage of ears for all occasions. Today, we found the perfect ears for 2023 graduates!

Class of 2023 — we spotted these Graduation Mickey Ears at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom today!

These ears are a perfect accessory for those heading to the parks to celebrate such a momentous life event. These black Mickey ears are on a satiny blue headband, and they even come with a mini graduation hat and tassel!

So cute!

“Class of 2023” is embroidered down the side of the band in yellow gold to commemorate the graduation year.

Congrats class of 2023!

And one of our favorite features — they come with Disney’s newest style of tearaway tag, so you won’t need a pair of scissors to cut off that long tag they used to have. These ears cost $34.99.

Don’t forget to pick these up on your next trip if you’re hoping to celebrate your graduation in the parks. You’ll be sure to get lots of “congrats” all day!

PHOTOS: See the NEW Cast Member Costumes in Disney World

We love Cast Members!

Disney World

Disney World has been incredibly busy this year with the official closure of Splash Mountain, “new” nighttime shows coming to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and TRON opening in just a few months! While we have loved all of this news, it’s no secret that Cast Members are the reason Disney World functions. So today, Disney announced a change for a select few Cast Members.

Today on Instagram, Disney announced that Disney Photopass Photographers will get a costume change! Starting tomorrow, Cast Members that work as PhotoPass photographers in all of the Disney Parks will be a little easier to spot.

©Disney

Now if you’re looking for a Photopass Cast Member, you’ll be looking for a lime green shirt! Previously, these Cast Members wore white button-ups with navy bottoms as you can see in the photo below.

Don’t forget your pics!

While this might be a subtle change, it will make it easier for guests to find those special photographers who will help capture your Disney memories. You can watch Disney’s full video below.
