What’s the best part about Christmas and the holiday season at Disney World?
Arguments can be made for the decorations or the entertainment, or even Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Some others might even say the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. But one really strong contender? The gingerbread displays at Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts!
We’ve already seen the gingerbread cottage at the Grand Floridian Resort and the gingerbread castle at the Contemporary Resort, but now it’s time for a truly unique creation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — the gingerbread giraffe!
The “Ginger-affe” was first introduced to the resort last year, in 2021. It’s quite an impressive model! The detail is impeccable.
This year the exhibit continues to grow as the Gingeraffe got a friend — Debra the Zebra. The tiny Zebra foal is also a delicious confection creation.
This year’s display is made with honey from approximately 32,256 bees, totaling about 42 pounds of honey. It was created by the incredible pastry team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Don’t forget to look for hidden gingerbread Mickey heads throughout the sculptures! We spotted one on the giraffe’s leg.
If you’re hoping to get a special treat to commemorate this year’s display, head to the resort’s quick service, The Mara. There, you can buy the Gingeraffe Cookie for $6.29.
It’s a signature gingerbread cookie with milk chocolate buttercream filling. It looks like a little giraffe in front of a Christmas tree — how cute!
This display will be up throughout the holiday season, so make sure to check it out if you’re visiting the resort in the next few weeks. There are plenty of other gingerbread displays to visit as well — including a pretty spectacular gingerbread carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
If you’re heading to Disney World for the holidays, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates. We’ve been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and we’ve got the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays coming up soon. We can’t wait to celebrate!
