REVIEW: Flavors of Wakanda Food Booth at Disneyland Resort

Hello from the West Coast, where we’re enjoying the official start of the holiday season in Disneyland.

Flavors of Wakands

We’re drinking out of a reindeer’s head, we’re eating maple beignets, and we’re checking out the Festival of the Holidays in Disney California Adventure. But something else big is going on, too — the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In honor of that, we’re trying the Flavors of Wakanda food booth in Disneyland!

Menu

The Flavors of Wakanda booth can be found in the Hollywood Backlot area of California Adventure. It features traditional African dishes!

So let’s dive into some food!

Food

First up is the Peri Peri Chicken with yellow jollof rice for $9. This chicken was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. We got a hint of sweetness, but also spice with each bite. Although our reporter isn’t the biggest fan of rice, he liked the jollof rice — it had a bit of a kick and he liked the extra flavor of the vegetables in it.

Next up is the Maafe for $9which is a ground peanut stew with sweet potatoes, tomatoes, black-eyed peas, and spices. It’s served with Naan. Okay, so this was SPICY, like so spicy that you couldn’t taste much of anything else except for a hint of peanut here and there.

SPICY

The naan is served warm, by the way.

Drinks

We also got to try the non-alcoholic drink here, the Butterfly Pea Tea Lemonade for $6.50. which is made with Lemonade, Honey, Ginger Beer with Butterfly Pea Tea. The lemonade is tart, but the honey added enough sweetness to balance it. The butterfly pea tea also gave it a hint of a floral flavor.

It’s so pretty!

All in all, it’s a pretty refreshing drink! You can also an alcoholic version of this drink here for $18.25.

Overall

If you’re looking for some African-inspired food in Disneyland, be sure to stop by the Flavors of Wakanda. Although we did find the one dish really spicy, we know some people really dig that, so it’s worth checking out! This is also a must for Black Panther fans! This booth should be around until January 8, 2023.

We’ll be eating our way around Disneyland a bit more today, trying out all the holiday snacks, and everything at the Festival of the Holidays, so don’t go anywhere!
