Genie+ Cost Stays at Record-high Price in Disney World on Thanksgiving Day

Genie+ was introduced in Disney World over a year ago, and since then, we’ve learned a LOT about the system that replaced FastPass in the parks.

Disney Genie

Genie+ is a paid service that allows you to make reservations for the Lightning Lanes of various rides around the parks. The Lightning Lanes work how the FastPass lanes used to, letting you skip the standby line and majorly cutting down on your wait times. When Genie+ was first introduced, it was $15 per day, per person, but Disney recently switched over to surge pricing, which means the price can vary depending on demand. The service reached its HIGHEST price to date a couple of days ago, and the cost remains high for Thanksgiving Day.

Genie+ is $29 per person today in Disney World, which is the same price that we’ve seen over the last couple of days for the holiday break.

The price of the service now fluctuates based on demand, so the more people that are expected to be in the parks, the higher it’s going to be. Since this is the week of Thanksgiving break, it’s easily one of the busiest times of the year in the parks, thus the high price.

This is probably a pretty good indication of what things might look like around Christmastime in the parks (although Christmas Day could potentially be even more expensive).

Using Disney Genie+

So, if you’re going to be in the parks around the holidays and want to use Disney Genie+ to skip some lines, make sure to factor it into your budget, because that price can add up quickly for larger groups. For a family of four, the service used to be $60 per day, but now, with this week’s pricing, it’s $116 per day.
