New Additions Made to the ‘Moana’ Attraction in EPCOT

If you haven’t been to EPCOT in a while, you’re in for a WILD surprise.

EPCOT

What do we mean? Well, for the past few years, the park has been under a massive transformation, adding new rides (hello Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure), new restaurants (like Space 220 and La Crêperie de Paris), and so much more (new Starbucks and gift shop, anyone?!). But the transformation isn’t over yet — a big part of it is yet to be completed, and today we’re taking a look at the construction.

The main work is being done in the center of the park, partially in World Celebration and partially in World Nature. Towards World Showcase, we’ve got some work continuing on the groundwork for the area. There seems to be a concrete pad covering much of this side, with a hand railing around the edges. Maybe there will be water that flows below like over by The Land Pavilion.

Big construction changes!

And the large building is starting to take shape! It’s likely that this will be the future home of CommuniCore Hall. It’s supposed to have dedicated spaces for festival events and character meet and greets. We can’t wait to see what it looks like!

More progress on the building!

The World Nature bathrooms were a relatively new construction before they were surrounded by walls. Now, the area has been taken over with construction supplies and there’s scaffolding on the backside of the building.

The bathroom is getting some work as well.

Next to the bathrooms, you’ll find Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. This walkthrough attraction is highly anticipated and it looks like most of the painting is now complete with the orange rock color. This week, artists began to add greenery to the rocks to make them look more nature-y. So cool!

Moana progress!

And next to all that greenery, there’s a taller rock structure — if you look closely, you’ll notice that it has the logo from Moana in the middle. That’s the symbol for the heart of Te Fiti! (Maybe the giant Te Fiti will go somewhere close by?)

The logo is there!

Finally, we have the area towards Spaceship Earth. This section will be home to some gardens and other general atmosphere elements, as well as Dreamers Point, where a Walt Disney statue will reside. Not much has changed here recently, but we’ll keep checking back.

One giant construction zone.

Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on this project! Everything here is set to be complete by the end of 2023, so we’re just a little over a year from that deadline. We can’t wait to walk through the middle of the park again — it has been so long since we’ve been able to cut across EPCOT!
