Walt Disney World Website Removes COVID-19 Banner

Even though we have made strides over the last twelve months that suggest the global COVID-19 situation is improving, some things in our everyday lives keep the pandemic front of mind, reminding us that we have not returned to normal.

For me, one of those indicators was the COVID-19 banner on the official Walt Disney World website that brought guests’ attention to the latest health and safety information available. It was promoted front and center on their website’s home page for over two years, casting a shadow on our Disney research.

Now, the Disney website has been updated to remove this from its featured position, keeping it further afield in the know before you go section. While this doesn’t make much difference to visiting guests, as most restrictions have concluded long before now, the presence of it in my browser was a constant reminder of what we have been through, and not for the better.

While I still always carry sanitizer and mask with me just in case, I’m taking this change of prime position as a universal sign that there are better traveling days ahead. Since the magic has been restored to the website’s homepage, everything flows a little better and feels a bit peppier. Even though I know the announcements were significant at the time, I’m so pleased to see them take a back seat to the fun stuff!
