Trying Specialty Foods at Halloween Horror Nights 31!

In today’s video, we take a quick lap around the park to try out some of the adventurous food offerings at Halloween Horror Nights!

GRAMERCY PARK

Our first stops of the evening were at 2 booths over in the Gramercy Park area! This area is located by the Sweet Revenge scare zone in New York, and Race Through New York starring Jimmy Fallon. We decided to try 4 options from this area!

Haunted Horseshoe : An open-faced burger on Texas Toast, with Crinkle-Cut Fries, Jalapeno Bacon, Candied Pork Belly, and Cheddar Cheese Sauce. This dish was absolutely delicious. It’s a little difficult to eat, but all of the flavors go so well together, and there’s a lot of good stuff on this burger. This will definitely be great after a night of consuming many “Ghoul Juices.”

Pizza Skull: A Pepperoni and Cheese-stuffed Pizza Skull with a Marinara dipping sauce. This essentially tasted like an elevated Hot-Pocket, which is a good thing! The crust was reminiscent of a New-York style pizza crust, which was great because it stood up to the sauce and never got soggy, even after sitting for a little bit.

Lil’ Boo’s Spicy Pumpkin Bun: A spicy Butternut Squash-filled bun. This is one of the several vegetarian options at the event this year. While the flavors are good, they’re not particularly the flavors we personally enjoy. But can see why someone would love it; just not for us. If you’re a fan of squash and like spicy foods, this one is for you!

Tombstone Red Velvet Cake Pop: A Red Velvet Cake Pop with Buttercream Frosting on a layer of Oreo Crumbles and White Chocolate bones. This cake was very delicious. The cake was extremely moist, and the Buttercream melts in your mouth. The Oreo crumbles really take it to another level as well. A great way to end this round of snacks!

THE MEETZ LOCKER

Next stop is at The Meetz Locker! This booth is located in Sting Alley, also in the New York section, in between Auntie Anne’s and Starbucks. Here we tried 2 snacks!

Fried Zombie Brains: Fried Cauliflower Florets tossed in a spicy gochujang sauce, topped with toasted sesame seeds and scallions. The flavor of these were very good, they taste just like fried chicken. The only thing we didn’t care for was the texture. Ours seemed to be a bit mushy. The outside battered part was slightly crispy at times, but the cauliflower almost seemed to be mashed inside. Regardless of the texture, the flavor was fantastic and the portion size was quite large.

Spoiled Angry Bear Meat: Savory Flaming Hot Cheetos, with a white cheddar flavored marshmallow treat. These were just okay in our opinion. While the flavor was better than we were expecting, the texture was pretty bad. I don’t know if we got a bad batch or something, but the Cheetos in ours were very stale. They still overall weren’t bad, but will probably not order again.

London Waterfront Pumpkin Booth

Our last stop for the night was the Pumpkin Booth! This booth is located on the bridge between the London Waterfront and Springfield areas of the park. We opted to only try 1 item from this food booth.

Maggot Covered Cheese Dog: Korean style corn dog, rolled in puffed rice, topped with gochujang drizzle and black sesame seeds. While its appearance is far from appetizing, the taste is quite the opposite. The flavors of the hot dog with the sauce and cheese all blend together very nicely. The puffed rice on the outside adds a really nice crunch as well. No complaints on this one at all, it was very good.

We had such a great night trying some of the foods from this year’s Halloween Horror Nights! Some of the standouts for us were the Haunted Horseshoe, Pizza Skull, and Maggot Covered Cheese Dog, so be sure not to miss those this season! We can’t wait to come back and try more foods in the future!
